I'll be taking it out on the street in the next couple of days for a good test run and I'll try to find some dirt too play around down a little. First real test will be Memorial Day weekend.
I know I owe this thread a bunch of part numbers and information but I just wanted to say that... I have functioning power steering!
I fired it up for the first time tonight... No leaks and I can turn lock to lock with the mud terrains on concrete with an open palm on the steering wheel!
Thanks Jim, this is not going to be a hardcore rock crawler but it will be in the rocks occasionally. I guess I'll look for a different solution if I encounter problems.
I went to a local hydraulic shop with the pump and the box and told them to make me a hose that will mate to both. He took his box of fittings and found the ones that work. I hope. I have yet to fire it up to see if there are leaks.
1979 2F with block tapped for stock PS pump bracket
