    stolen 80

That was nice of them to pull over. Where I work we can't chase unless there is some other concern to the community (e.g. they just shot someone and this is the get away vehicle). I had a car run a red light and almost hit me (in a marked police vehicle) the other day. By the time i made a u...

    Intermittent Starting Problems

I made my own "hot shot" relay. No more issues since doing that. I also have a short jumper i can easily connect straight to battery to start in a pinch. I had most of the material on hand, so i was out $10 total. No problems since...

1FZ-FE engine refresh parts list (OEM)

Diy - $5 to 6kish if you reuse the block. Add another couple grand if buying new. Add more if not sourcing parts from overseas. Budget $15k to $20k for turn key at a reputable shop.

    FJ80 tailgate storage panel

"Bolt on" seems to be all the rage. I think you'll be hard pressed to find an off the shelf bolt on only. I don't know much about landcruisershops bolt in option. I do know this, you'll be money ahead if you burn your own mounts in. Plenty of options there...

    Heater core question

I think I bought the last OEM (or one of the last) "old" heater cores in 2016. It was purchased out of Dubai. It was actually my brass pipe that was leaking. To answer your question, no. The old core was a double (and brass), the new core is single and aluminum. You have to find a "yota...

    Lazy's Grocery Getter Build Thread

Started pulling everything in the engine bay. I decided to "upgrade" to hydroboost steering. Mainly to make the rig more serviceable, have the responsive braking hydroboos is known for, and to be ready for big boost numbers. I read through a few threads, this isnt going to be a $1000 wilwood...

    Radiator for a 350 swapped 80?

Not sure if Ron Davis does a swapped version, but a 5 minute phone call to Mike to get your rad ordered is well worth it. He knows were to put the inlet and outlets too. I paid $1350 shipped in 2016.

Catalytic Converters Stolen: USAA only covering non-CARB compliant replacement.

It's not that, you create an LLC, you have a registered agent in montana set it up. The vehicle gets titled by the registered agent. The service is pricey, i think i paid $850. I am probably going to do my other cruiser and just skip the emissions song and dance. You are correct, it is a...

    Radiator for a 350 swapped 80?

Steel nutz makes a great rad. Cheaper than rd, every bit of the same quality. Dimes stacked perfectly throughout.

THANK YOU Mudders - The LS Swap is Done!

There has be some value put on this. If my tranny died today, I can go pull one out of a junk yard the same day for $155 (+$30 core). If my engine died, I can get parts easy, quickly and affordable. I'm wrapping a toyota engine rebuild, it's nearing the cost of a new ls crate motor. If I...

THANK YOU Mudders - The LS Swap is Done!

I don't know that off the top of my head. My gut feeling is no. I also disagree that it's an easy change on an already completed swap. The output shafts probably are different as well.

THANK YOU Mudders - The LS Swap is Done!

The real problem is the reluctor ring on the out out shaft. On 4l80e 4x4 vehicles the output reading was in the transfer case. On 2wd vehicles, the reluctor ring was buried in the transmission on the output shaft. Same parts, just one is missing the $35 tone ring. Pair that with most people...

    Impending Vortec Swap

Just let me know. I'm on the west side of town and a 10-15 min detour (+whatever time you spend shooting the breeze) from i-70. moving the phb up has been nice. definitely less butt wobble. I can see how the expensive option is "worth it." If money is tight, you can also live with it like...

Cerakote came in. I blasted everything with al oxide per cerakote's instructions. then filtered and shot the paint with my turbine sprayer. used a 1.0 tip, was supposed to use a 0.8, but it went on fine, maybe a tad dry...everything looks good. had a bit of a heatwave here in Denver over the...

    Impending Vortec Swap

got work on the "LS" swapped 80 today. I wanted a rear panhard bracket, but the cost has been hard to justify. I almost pulled the trigger on the eimkeith, but I decided to make my own bracket. I pulled some rem 1/4" steel from the local metals supermart. $14, enough steel to make 2...

    Engine rebuild cost?

I think you know this, but that is just for the casting. You still need to buy cams, valves, etc. Or reuse your old. But, you'll most likely be buying some shims at a minimum. I have a spreadsheet for my rebuild. It's always open for everyone's viewing pleasure...

    Engine rebuild cost?

I would expect....head - clean, inspect bearing surfaces (cams snd heads), new seals, valve/sest grind, adjust clearances by grinding valve tips (you'll probably have to buy new shims). I would go into detail on the rest of a rebuild, but it sounds to me as if you're basically getting a new...
