In the middle of doing a reseal of transmission and transfer case and discovered what I think is too much play in the output shaft bearing. Does anyone know how much play, if any, should be in the bearing? I can grab it and wiggled it around which seems too much in my mind.
thanks, Matt
I’m speaking of the transmission seals ie,input shaft, transmission to transfer case, transfer case out shafts, front and rear. You had those replaced?
Did you have the seals replaced when the transmission was out for the clutch job? I only ask because I didn’t reseal the transmission and transfer case when I did my rear main seal and clutch. I have leaks from the input shaft seal on the transmission and front output shaft on the transfer case...
It’s an 84’. It’s funny you mention putting the equipment in there to “stage” them in an inoperable fashion, I thought of that too only because I agree the station people probably wouldn’t know what to look for. I base this opinion mostly on the confusion and pure panic of the station employees...
That’s interesting stuff. Makes me wonder if I should risk failing the visual inspection and see if it passes or just get the classic vehicle insurance. My other option is to just put everything back on, though I would need to source an air rail and smog pump sine the old ones are toast.
I...
Are you saying you ran it through testing unsmoged and now have to smog it? I only ask because I have 60 that I dragged down to AZ 3 years ago from WA and prior to moving, I removed all of the smog stuff. I have not registered it here in AZ as I have been doing other things to it. I’ve...
My name is Matt, which you should know from the few dm’s we have exchanged. It’s amazing how quickly you respond when the conversation is in an open setting. I don’t want the wheel, which you should also know from the previous two requests I sent you. I’ll make this the third request for a...
No, this thread should remain open so that unsuspecting people like me will see what this guy is doing! I ordered an 80 wheel from this guy on 03/12/22 and have not received a tracking number let alone the wheel. I failed by trusting the vendor tag on his profile and did not do any research on...
I can’t lead you to a specific thread, but I know you’re going to have to remove the dash. In the upper right hand corner, you can use the search bar to find threads pertaining to the heater core. HTH
You have a vacuum leak. Mine did this initially and I was able to correct it mostly but ultimately removed the system entirely because I didn’t like the way it ran. Spray some carb cleaner at the base of the throttle body and see if you have noticeable idle change. That will tell you right away...
