Signing in to confirm the cyl.6 misfire can be caused by a bad injector. Visual inspection including removal of EGR confirmed that coolant had been leaking from the heater pipe - it looks like I failed to tighten a hose clamp after I repaired the head gasket. There was coolant residue on the...
Now, after putting gas in the tank, it sounds like it is misfiring on one cylinder. Is there any reason these things might be related? We've only driven it a few times .25 mi to the store and back since then. Kind of afraid to drive it farther.
I think I may have found the problem. I pulled the valve cover off per LandCruisininMy93's suggestion. Rotating the crank, there was never a time when both sets of cam lobes were pointing up and away from the valves like in the picture.
I think I may have misinterpreted the instructions on...
I am a little confused by what you mean by "of the compression stroke." If I set the hash mark on the bottom pulley to 0* is that all it takes? Or could that mean it is TDC, but not of the compression stroke? (I did check the hash mark was at 0* when I reinstalled the distributor.
-checked compression w/compression tester yesterday. W/engine cold compression (I can't warm it up), compression is around 100psi. Low, but the truck ran and started up nicely before head gasket replacement.
Just finished replacing the head gasket. It just won't start.
Here is what I have tried so far, and the results:
-Re-did the procedure for installing the distributor.
-Took off distributor cap, set crank to top dead center, and verified distributor rotor is pointing in correct orientation...
