1999 LC AHC: Vehicle will not raise to High

Really stupid question but I didnt see it asked or mentioned.... Are all of your doors shut when you try to lift the vehicle? Our 01 LX wont lift/lower unless all doors are shut and will only flash the light until doors are closed.

    Timing belt alignment....

Meh. Not hard, just not consistent with what they've done in the past and, as I said, it's a problem that the crank isn't referential to anything but the belt. That's why I had a problem. Once I saw a clear diagram it went on first try. Yes the belt was backwards in the photo above. That's...

    Name that part....

I see it's called a timing belt cover spacer, looks to go on the driver side.... not sure on orientation quite as all exploded views show it off...

    Name that part....

So whilst doing the timing belt... This was on top of the A/C compressor. Looks like it might go to a timing cover but I obviously didnt unbolt it- looks like it might fit in somewhere and then be held in place by another part that bolts in. Its plastic with grooves around to fit in or...

Do radiators get inefficient simply due to age?

The main factor would actually be if there is dirt/material build up on the outside of the radiator (jammed in the fins) causing the radiator to not be abltle to dissipate heat.

    Timing belt alignment....

Here's my thoughts. I know this is about 20 years overdue. Toyota has a history in all other engines I've touched timing belts or chains on (4age, 4afe, 7afe, 5sfe, 3sfe, 22r, even the 5vzfe thathas a similar setup aand more) where there is a clear mark for TDC. Set the engine at TDC with...

    Timing belt alignment....

https://www.toyoheadquarters.com/threads/toyota-2uz-fe-timing-belt-marks-4-7l.335/ I found this... I'll post late about why this is poor engineering on Toyotas part. Following the link I got it to start. Time to get it back together.

    Timing belt alignment....

I have now done this 5 times. Even if I start with the cams rotates too far clockwise the tensioner pulls it back. I'm concerned because I can rotate the engine without too much resistance. I'm about to just start the stupid thing and see if fine.

    Timing belt alignment....

Working on the timing belt. Aisin belt. Everything was lined up perfect, installed tensioner (have not pulled the pin) and the cams rotated counter clockwise this much. Crank did not rotate. This doesn't look off a tooth. but concerned that if I pull the pin and full tension is applied that...

Broken power antenna again and no more...

I did something similar on our 97 T4R but it cost $20 in allthread, nuts, and the antenna.... took a total of about an hour as I did remove the motor and modified the housing.... I cut the old antenna housing in half the used the allthread and nuts to make the antenna stud shaft and make...

    Timing Belt - 2000 LC

Like I said, not technically difficult but just a lot of parts and variations of bolts to remember. I'm about an hour and a half in and the entire belt is exposed, just need to pull the tensioner and will have the belt out. For removing the crank pulley bolt- I used the starter trick. Haven't...

    Timing Belt - 2000 LC

I am in the middle of a timing belt job on our 01 LX. While it's only bolts, I'm not convinced it's as easy as it appears. I completed the TB on the T4R 3.4 last month, which prompted me to do the LX, and it was far easier. I would say that my about a 7/10 in mechanical ability (pulled a 40...

Horrible Brake Pulse - currently have Akebono ceramics - need pad recommendations

Enjoy your reduced braking at an increased cost and increased maintenance (eventual cracking if not braking rotors), and your inability to formulate an actual argument. I'll enjoy our 01 LX as is.

Horrible Brake Pulse - currently have Akebono ceramics - need pad recommendations

Our rigs are meant to tow up to 6500lbs... not exactly a massive amount of weight for towing. With that said - I assume you're intelligent enough that if the trailer is over a few thousand pounds (loaded) that you're set up with trailer brakes and a controller. This increases safety and...

Horrible Brake Pulse - currently have Akebono ceramics - need pad recommendations

I learned the brake performance aspects from a friend who worked at, and designed a significant amount of systems for non exotics, a specialty brake performance company. They specialize in exotic cars (Ferarri, Lamborgini, Porsche) brake components and upgrades. The friend designed upgrades...

Horrible Brake Pulse - currently have Akebono ceramics - need pad recommendations

Not to start an unnecessary internet fight, but unless you are heating your brakes to the point of fading with standard rotors, you are reducing your braking power with the cross drilled units and increasing chances of rotor failure via cracks between the drilled holes. Braking power is reduced...

    Crabwalking in the snow

I don't know how to edit in this update..... I would blame the tires, except it never kicks/slides out the passenger side. I reduced air to an even 32psi across all tires and it still did the same thing.

    Crabwalking in the snow

No. Like I said - the nannies dont seem to know or care that things are off. One corner was just shy of drifting around because I couldn't get the back to right itself while turning. That was at about 15mph. No complaints from the ATRAC. ATRAC has only kicked in on icy steep hills at low...

    Crabwalking in the snow

So.... have had the 100 series about a year. We've been hit with snow, more snow, and snow. This region is known for barely freezing temps causing compacted snow and ice, which never gets plowed. Last snow regiment we had our 3x locked 80 series on BFG KO3s. It was a beast and never an...

My experience with 12 hole injectors. Awesome!

Or simply sending your injectors to witch hunter (here in WA). My opinion... 12 holes seems odd and excessive. I've used multiple OE injectors for the "same" engine that utilizes 1, 2 and 4 holes. Generally those OEs have different flow rates, but FPR and pressures are the same. As...
