Thanks. Me too.... it's been a lot of work and literally a dozen years of effort and learning as I go.
Don't need to crap up this thread with non-Toyota content, but you can see more photos of the entire thing if it interests you:
Not it the LC realm....but that's exactly what I'm doing now on a full-size Chevy project. 19" of clearance under the pumpkin by using Unimog 404 portals on a Ford 9" centersection. The entire axle centerline moves UP by 4.5" as a result of the portal boxes which is a massive improvement. It...
Nah, it’s all good. I ended up buying the K02s and they ended up being really decent in the snow.... then I got a relocation offer from work and ended up in Texas.
Tires are wearing like iron by the way. Pleased with my choice.
From a couple years back, but if anyone still wants to see a 100% stock (no lift) tire size upgrade to a 285. 2001 Land Cruiser
Only issue was a small interference on the lower spash guard at the outside edge. A gently heatgun application softened...
This sounds exactly like my current issue: 2001 Land Cruiser with drivers front window down (but won't go back UP).
Some of the info on this thread seems faulty. The 2001 does NOT have a passenger side fusebox, and the window motors are NOT individually fused. According to the Driver's...
The non-CarPlay menu is pretty basic. I just hit a button to reconnect to the phone (in my pocket) via Bluetooth and the music picks up where it left off....even if I had previously been using the CarPlay interface.
The volume level between the BlueTooth and CarPlay inputs is slightly off. I...
I've had one installed in my 2001 for about a month now..... really like it.
Was planning on doing a full-writeup on it at some point if people are interested. I'm using it for the Apple (CarPlay) functionality and it seems to be pretty slick so far.
Sounds familiar. I bought the T's and hoses and new clamps but there was only one size clamp provided....even though clearly the factory used two slightly different sizes.
I had my mechanic re-use the originals where the larger ones were needed.
Never bothered with this... work/life has been too crazy and my commute is too short for this to get much attention from me. Someday perhaps.... this truck just never breaks, so it's easy to just drive it and forget it. :)
I'm running without running boards, and stock height (no lift) and was able to put a set of 285's (K02s) with that small splashguard "mod"....
We got a bit of snow here and I really LOVE having the new tires. :)
If your tires are only rubbing on the "bump" on the lower fender splash guards, I can confirm from personal experience that a carefully applied heat gun will soften the plastic enough to flatten that area out.
I'm getting awfully tempted to buy one of these. The price point is pretty reasonable ($500) compared to most other CarPlay-enabled decks from Alpine / Kenwood.
I love the conventional volume knob idea... easy to reach and find with fine adjustment of sound even on a bumpy road...
It was a beautiful Autumn day in New England.....so I pulled the incomplete project truck out of the garage and did a little "side by side" comparison for fun....
33's vs 38's... big V8 vs. BIGGER V8...... bucket clearance vs BUCKET CLEARANCE.... etc. LOL
