    Hard top cap fiberglass

Thanks for the input everyone! Think I’ll leave the paint on, address the gouge (it’s about 5” wide) and get the headliner on. Getting cold here though so may have to wait a while to glue it on.

    Hard top cap fiberglass

Yes. I have a headliner ready to go in. There is the one spot that seems like a gouge in the fiberglass. Repair the gouge and then just glue the headliner on?

    Hard top cap fiberglass

So one of the POs painted the fiberglass on the under side of the hard top cap. I started to sand the paint off but it seems like it’s gonna be a pretty painful process. Part of the fiberglass had some damage that I wanted to repair. My question is do you think the black paint needs to come...

Wiring for temp sender '77 2F

Coolerman, It looks like the wires for my temp sending units were cut and I’m missing the connectors for them. Cali spec ‘77 and I found a pic on the forum of the 2-pin connector that’s missing. Attached is a pic of the connector. Was checking to see if you had anything that would work or...

Wiring for temp sender '77 2F

Ok. So they are temp sensor input wires for the Cooling fan timer. Then would one of the 2 lighter colored wires down stream from those and on the same bundle be for the temp gauge? I'm referring to the 2 wires circled in red in one of the pictures above. Thanks for your help and expertise...

Wiring for temp sender '77 2F

One looks like blue and other looks greenish. I can’t make out any stripes on either one.

Wiring for temp sender '77 2F

I believe that there were 2 temp senders originally. One went to emissions system and other went to the gauge. Would these pics above be those 2 wires?

Wiring for temp sender '77 2F

It looks like there are two white wires bundled together. They're kind of discolored so look a little yellow but I don't think either of them is actually yellow. They do go under the dash and look to join the harness somewhere close to the wiper switch.

Wiring for temp sender '77 2F

 Sorry for being a dumba$$:bang:. Not the first time i've done that. Here's what I meant to send.

Wiring for temp sender '77 2F

I’m familiar with that barrel connector diagram from scanning the forum. And it doesn't quite match up with mine. I'm wondering if mine might be a cali spec. It has an oil cooler on it if that matters. Does that make it a cali spec? Anyway, I asked the forum about the connector that I'm...

Wiring for temp sender '77 2F

'77 2F Trying to hook up the wiring to the original instrument cluster (PO had aftermarket cluster for oil and temp). Got the oil hooked back up but need some questions answered about the temp sender wiring. Where does the wire coming from the sending unit join the wire harness? It's a...

    Oil pressure sending question

I think the harness is original. Just an assumption but it does look old and a bit worn in certain parts.

    Oil pressure sending question

Thanks Solace. I think I might be starting to put the pieces together. Rudi's post is fantastic. Lots of good pics and info. The after market gauge that was in my 40 had a tube with what looked like oil in it going to the back of the gauge. I just looked on SOR and saw that there are...

    Oil pressure sending question

So my ‘77 FJ40 has the 2F with the oil cooler. When I bought it, it had an aftermarket gauge cluster where the radio would go in addition to the OEM cluster. The OEM cluster works except for the oil pressure gauge and the temp gauge. I'd like to remove the aftermarket gauge and just have the...

    WTF is this?

That’s fantastic! I’m gonna take a look at that and see if that’s something I could do.

    WTF is this?

Thanks spotcruiser. That also makes sense. I have a buddy with a ‘78 and his cooling fan is on the left side pointed at the carb. This one would only have the distance to mount where you said it would go. Love learning about these machines! 👍🏻
