Big Bend in Late January or Early Feb

I like the State Park better for just chilling. Spectacular scenery, and quite remote. Any of the roads that are not the main park roads (which are all gravel) will be challenging, and will scratch up your rig for sure. All main roads in the National Park are paved, it is far more crowded...

@PearlLX470 - no worries! @The Phoenician - gulp. Glad you made it back OK. Standing offer for anyone who heads this way- I have plenty of room for folks to leave a trailer if weather turns s***ty. Just come grab later.

Sounds good- I'm flexible. It's about 2 1/2 -3 hours down Pinto Canyon from Marfa to River Road, depending on how many stops we make.

Big Bend in Late January or Early Feb

AFAIK, everything is on line. None of the ranger stations are really open- I would do the Presidio route.

@meatloaf that is awful news- so sorry to hear. Good news is there is plenty of good weather left to come on out before it gets blazing hot. @bobcatag2006 - it's probably 9 hours to the State Park Ranger Station, and then another hour plus to the camp site. You planning on coming tru Marfa...

DIff won't be done until tomorrow, I'll pick up in ATX and head back to Marfa Friday. Probably will not get it done over weekend, so I am out for camping. Am happy to lead crew down Pinto Canyon; I'll probably be on a motorcycle. Did that ride about 6 weeks ago, and roads were good. May see...

@meatloaf - my friends are booked unfortunately. LMK if I can help scout other locations. I'll meet you at Tres Papalotes. I'm now tentative on attending due to USPS. Have to get rear 3rd member rebuilt- I bought a used one from a guy in Arkansas and a rebuild kit from Valley Hybrids to go...

    Feleena from Far West Texas

Tools of the day: Had to beat the dizzy out of the block from below. A piece of 1x2 and the center mallet got it unstuck without damage. Galvanic corrosion had welded the aluminum shaft of the distributor to the block. I cleaned everything up, lightly sanded upper part of dizzy shaft, and...

Got a few more things done over last few days: rebuilt/resealed power steering pump (damn there are a lot of springs in there), replaced taillight gaskets with reproductions from City Racer, replaced smog pump with TLC idler arm, and adjusted clutch. Rejetted Weber 38 for altitude- probably...

The Tension Kit #2 works really well. I especially like that it has the outside nut to secure the adjuster block to the lock bolt. No losing the damn block! Super pleased with everything else; great to have reliable charging and a clean windshield. :) Have a water pump and LED lights...
