Not sure if you are still around @wscbill but thank you for the incredible level of detail! Have a question to you or anyone else if I may: do you know which delete plate was used in the late models HJ47s (1983/4)? While you mention above that the 1983 delete plates are very rare I am wondering...

Wanted 1983 Radio Delete Plate (Wider one for revised late model grey Dash)

Hey @BTUMAN did you ever manage to hunt down that unicorn? Only found out about it now, not sure however if this was also used in the 83/84 dashes of the 40 series. Do you know? Cheers

Thanks. Next up is the table and slider that will fit under the roof rack. Wednesday!

    ikamper / HJ47 combination

OK, so I finally got round to mounting the iKamper tent to the custom roof rack (inspired by @Gamiviti), built locally in Cape Town. Hope you like it. Now, off to the veld!!

Wanted End cap for HJ47 Troopy roof trim

Where are they mounted? Inside the garnish / cap? One on each side?

Wanted End cap for HJ47 Troopy roof trim

Do you know what the clip 63394B is for by the way? Can't recall having had that. Also the fact that there is only 1 in the drawing leads me to understand that it is not related to the garnishes. Thanks

Wanted End cap for HJ47 Troopy roof trim

Will do. The frustrating thing is I had them, but the car came back from restoration without :-( My OCD is in overdrive!!

    Thomas PTO winch manual

Cool, thanks! Are those chain couplers universal? Mine has a key way on the winch side.

All Land Cruisers Manuals, Factory Lit, etc.

More information from South Africa: 1. A dual language (English / Afrikaans) brochure with all technical information for the FJ45RP-K and HJ47RP-K models, so must be end of seventies, early eighties. Toyota only sold the LWB pickup models in South Africa, with some local CKD assembly happening...

    Thomas PTO winch manual

not surprised. @tlaporte you worked on your Thomas a while ago didn't you? Do you have a closeup of the chain and sprocket? I have noticed that my chain is missing the connector/lock and cannot find info online on what it is supposed to look like. I prefer keeping the original chain. TIA

    Kill Switch

Of course/natuurlijk, but then the whole idea is to buy time. With the thief struggling to understand why it started but then cuts out, then trying to start again etc I hope that he will not have time to troubleshoot but will just run away! That presumes that the thief does not know these cars...

    Thomas PTO winch manual

That is correct. Thomas did a lot of them for cruisers as well as rovers. They still supply parts apparently, although I didn't get a reply on an email I sent last week on the seals of the worm shaft

    Kill Switch

Thanks, do you think a read switch mounted behind the steel dash of my HJ47 would work? Would the magnet that I use to actuate the switch be strong enough (I could need one of those stronger molybdenum ones maybe?). I'm a bit concerned that the steel dash will throw off the magnetic field

    Thomas PTO winch manual

True, or the previous owner just had no intentions of using the winch except for looks ;-) He may have bought the winch and stuck it on without ever using it?

    Thomas PTO winch manual

why replace it? It's a solid piece of kit and the driveshaft is pretty easy to make if you can't source. Maybe a good idea to check the worm and toothed gear first though. Can send you measurements of the driveshaft if you like

    Thomas PTO winch manual

So, I greased the various nipples and filled up the winch with 85W140 oil and followed the steps in the manual. Winch works great. One problem: leaking oil along the worm shaft on both sides. Subsequently pulled the winch off the car and removed the bearing covers on both sides of the shaft...

    An HJ47 thread

Nice, finally someone that gets to use their heater ;-) How do you keep your spare tire carrier fixed? I noticed that you don't have a hook at the rear door sill in a previous picture. Also: what do you estimate would be the weight of the whole rear section + roof?

I agree to keep as original. Will make mental not to stop whining
