Yes you will regret it. 100 series are nice but not an 80. I did the same thing. Sold my 80 and bought a 100 and less than a year later I was back in an 80. Also the cost of a new compressor is probably less than the timing belt and water pump replacement that is due on the 100.
@Realst8 what wastegate did you go with. I got the CX manifold and a BW turbo but not sure what wastegate to go with that will work with the CX manifold that is still quality. I did not want to use theirs.
Shut eye is one of my favorite places in the States. I spend many afternoons ditching class and driving up there in my old fj40. Your pics brought back some good memories. The forks restaurant is also on the list.
I love this idea. I prefer to be creative and build my own expo gear when possible. My wife calls the garage my “therapist”. I go in there and come out happy and inspired.
So here’s my addition: I am currently building my own roof rack using v-slot bars and hardware from these guys...
All fun projects with the exception of the engine replacement. I did not enjoy that. As far as the swing out, the only thing I would recommend is welding the fitting in the bumper that the strut connects to. I threaded it in and it moves around a lot. It will pop out one of these days and smack...
Next up was finishing my project to add a jerry can and propane tank holder to my swing out. I got a lighted license plate holder out of the junk yard and wired it up. I think it turned out pretty good:
I decided to go ahead and delete the ABS and the LSPV. Huge difference in braking. Always had the feeling of not being able to get all the air out now I have a solid pedal.
Now I have a spot to put extra stuff:
A great vacation: week at home getting caught up on cruiser projects.
First to mention: I replaced all of the brake discs with Napa brand. Installed 100 series EBC green stuff pads in the front and 80 series EBC green stuff in the rear. I also replaced all of the rubber brake hoses with OEM...
Also replaced all rubber brake hoses, disc’s and EBC green stuff pads.
While I was at it I deleted the ABS. Now I have all of this extra real estate:
For all of the edge of your seat excitement be sure to check out my build thread. I took a week off from work so was able to get lots done.
