I have a 00 Ford Ranger with the 3.0 engine. It knocks a lot when pulling hills and even on the flats. When I down shift or de-accelerate it goes away. My dealer said it was spark knock and there was nothing to worry about. I think this is BS. Any ideas??

The magnetic-pickup coil in my dizzy has had a melt-down. The plastic looking cover has turned soft and squishy. did the same last year. Any ideas?
