Picked up an OEM gasket as everyone recommended. Once the pan was off and cleaned I laid the gasket on top to check its fit. Each corner sat approx. 1cm off the pan. This is unusual right?
Yet, I went forward with the install anyway and sure enough, when I was done, the "U" ends wouldn't sit...
Recently I replaced my oil pan gasket, and today I had the chance to remove the inspection plate to see what it was like under there, and this is what I found...
What's the deal here? There IS a bolt visible that is tightened down on the oil pan side inside there, should this bolt ALSO be...
Thanks everyone for all the advice and help that you've given me directly and indirectly on making LC ownership fun and rewarding. I hope to return someday to this wonderful land of LC ownership. Thanks again, blessings to you all.
Sincerely,

Have any of you out there been successful in modifying stock bumpers to carry hi-lift jacks, jerry cans, spare tires, aux lights, etc? Mine are in great shape and I can't even come close to buying a new bumper nor do I have the skill or equipment to make my own. I see the need to carry an extra...
Just so you know, I spent two days pouring through threads to see if anyone has addressed this issue. I found some things that I'll try, but couldn't find my specific problem addressed, similar, but not quite. I need your help.
My 88 fj62 would always start fine, but if I turned it off before...
I have seen a lot of awesome storage ideas out there, love the WagonGear and platform stuff, but who out there has installed a series of hooks for storage?
What kind of hooks are they?
How much weight can they hold?
How much work was it to install?
I'd like to have something that could get...
Many have asked if 33x10.50 tires fit on stock rims and springs and I've always replied, but never put up pics. They're long overdue, and I havn't put up any photos of my '88 anyway, so here it is.
I've loved the tires and the extra lift that comes with them. They've never rubbed on me, but I...
Last summer my brother-in-law had some mahogany laying around that he couldn't use, and I had a busted center console...and a whole lot of time on my hands. This is the fruit of my labor. Several months after these pics I took it all apart, clamped, glued, sunk the screws and lacquered it. Its...
For the first time in a few months I put the Cruiser in 4WD, remembering I need to do this at least once a month to keep the fluid moving and good. So I engaged 4WD and hit up a muddy field.
When I got back on the road and let off the gas I heard what sounded like driving over a soft rumble...
My tranny cooler was all set up the other day and I was under the LC on a good roll, no problems, until (of course) I try to unscrew the soft line (return line) from the hard line. Problem was I don't have a tool that can fit in there to unscrew it. The Tranny oil sending line is right below it...
I'm diving in and wanting to do my own work. Other than an alternator and belts (in other cars) I've never really done much mechanical work. So here I am ready to change out the tranny fluid. I read about the "Rodney Flush" from the FAQs and am planning on doing it that way. Or can I?
(My...
I've been convinced, I need/ want a tranny cooler. There are a lot of posts on the subject and install but I couldn't find anyone suggesting the best tranny cooler for the buck, this means under $100 and preferably in the $60 range. Summit Racing has a lot to choose from but I don't really know...
I'm fairly new to the Land of the Cruiser's. I want a modest lift and got really excited when I heard about parabolic springs. Then I find out Heystee, seemingly the only manufacturer of such springs available to us, has basically closed shop. I know some still make them (exclusively for land...
Just for the sake of being informative and share my joy with you all I want you all to know that last week I fit BFG T/A ko's 33x1050 on my stock rim with my stock shocks and stock springs, and they fit perfectly. There is plenty of steering room and took it off road this week (nothing crazy)...
This weekend I was doing a gradual, relentless, hill climb and my temp gauge almost went into the red (i stopped to let it cool down, took 10-30 sec. to cool), then I noticed my AT Oil Pressure light was on. I followed the directions and left it idling for 15 min. until it turned off. This was...
What rims are you guys running? What is a solid, reliable, and light rim out there?
My hope is to soon run 33x10.50 and my budget won't allow a lift. I want to keep the wheels as light as possible so I won't have to worry about new gears and putting more of a burden on the driveline/engine as...
