    Poor AC performance.

Well, R134a arrived today, and I checked pressures. Both low and high reading were below nominal (10psi and 150psi), so I added R134a until pressures reached "nominal values". Just added some 250 grams or so (total charge is 850 grams nominal for front AC + Cool box) The closer I could get to...

    Poor AC performance.

While waiting for a couple of R134A cans to arrive next week, I decided to remove the horns and intercooler for cleaning, and I noticed that the AC condenser needs some cleaning too. Is there any way to clean it without removing it ?.... maybe removing just the engine radiator does the trick of...

1998 - 2007 Toyota Land Cruiser Factory Repair Manuals

Perfect !!! No chapter for the cool box ?

    Poor AC performance.

Thank you guys, I don't have any service manual covering my actual AC+cool box system, but looking at the EPC drawings, I can see that there is also a solenoid operated valve that regular AC systems don't have. It's part number 88690-60230 and I think it electrically enables freon flow to the...

    Poor AC performance.

I know this subject has been discussed many times before, but I couldn't find any discussion on my particular AC system, which has a cool box. Well, my LC is a 2003 4.2TD with front AC + cool box... no rear AC. The compressor clutch engages, and the AC works OK most of the time, but AC stops...

    Rear axle bearings pics

If you read my earlier post on this thread, the bearing is perfect, but the grease washed off by a diff oil leak... so I have to repack. Replacing would be nonsense.

    Rear axle bearings pics

I revived this old thread some days ago expecting to collect further experiences, but it seems my comments remained unnoticed. I am trying to repack the bearing without removing anything. Tried removing the bearing shield without luck... there is not enough space to insert and tilt a srewdriver...

    Rear axle bearings pics

Reviving al old thread with a question: Any further experiences on this matter ? It would be childs play to just remove the snap ring and press everything off, instead of having to remove the seal ring and ABS wheel in first place, which requires special tools if one wishes to reuse them. My...

    Sankei 555, what's the veredict ?

Well I guess I will go the 555 route. Thank you guys ! PS: Here we have a local distributor of SAFETY BRAND parts. The box says MADE IN JAPAN, but they are dirt cheap, and i think that the only thing made in japan is the box, because their suspension parts suck. Their website: Steering and...

    Sankei 555, what's the veredict ?

The action of the elastic element to keep the same vehicle at the same height with the same dynamic behaviour, whether a spring or a bar, would result in the same force decomposition over the LBJ. So, spring or bar, they're about the same. I would better say that the size of the LBJ is more...

    Sankei 555, what's the veredict ?

Yes. I had a 1997 4Runner (in my country, it was maketed as Hilux SW4) with the 1KZ-T turbo diesel engine. The whole LCA design sucks because all the weight of the vehicle hangs from the LBJ stem (traction effort), and this effort becomes even larger when hitting bumps or large rocks. So there...

    Sankei 555, what's the veredict ?

My LC has 320,000Km (200K miles) and there is some minor play on both ITREs and one LBJ. I think it's time for an ovehaul, and I am considering replacing upper & lower BJ, ITREs and OTREs. Wheel bearings look and feel fine, I think they are the factory ones (TIMKEN). The consensus for 555 parts...

Console cool box disassembly - Help !

Thank you. Funny thing is that those screws don't even appear in the exploded view, which sould contain all components. Well, the motor was not functioning because the cabon brushes were completely worn out. The motor is actually a sealed, non serviceable unit, but the local dealer quoted $250...

Console cool box disassembly - Help !

Oh, and there is no need to remove the seats, only move them back and forth to access the screws.

Console cool box disassembly - Help !

Thanks, but those images don't help much. Actually it was a PITA to find out that besides the surrounding screws that you mention, there are also 8 hidden screws under the rubber seal 88578-60170. The seal won't come off in one piece because it's like glued or stuck to the plastic frame by...

Console cool box disassembly - Help !

My cool box stopped working a few days ago, and It seems like the evaporator fan is stuck or broken. Already tried looking at the Service Manual for a disassembly/assembly procedure but unfortunately, the manual shows the procedure for regular console box, not cool box. They're quite...

    1HD-FTE Top speed governor/limiter

I doubt that air flow could be a problem when the vehicle is moving at those speeds... Plus, the engine is way oversized for the output power (4.2L 200HP), running quite low boost pressure for today's standards.

    1HD-FTE Top speed governor/limiter

Vehicle speed is not important. Engine speed is. Do you really think the 1HD-FTE will suffer at 3400 rpm when the fuel cut is at 4300 RPM and gear shifting under full load takes place at 3800 RPM ?

    1HD-FTE Top speed governor/limiter

Sorry for the late reply. I installed a switch in series with the speed signal coming from the rear of the gearbox (5-auto) to the ECU and it worked, no speed governor... the speedo reaches 190+ kph, which is actually 180 kph measured with a GPS... However, the CEL comes on. It turns off as...
