Don't know specific, but my switch (1975) would smoke when I went to high beam. I thoroughly cleaned the brass contacts and WD40'ed the mechanism . All's well now.

Commit to it and be patient. Use whatever works. I used one of those scrapers that hold a razor blade.

I've seen the fuel separator or vapor recovery thingy cover that was body color and pewter. Must be different for different years?

New "boing" dampers on all four corners. Been driving on blown out shocks far too long!

Feel the ledge where your hard top meets the driver side just above the dome light. You might get lucky and find the wire up there.

I tapped the tabs with a rubber mallet "lightly" to bend them in a little, then a little dab of grease on the tabs. You kinda get a feel for it.

I had the exact problem for a couple of years. I pulled the wire to starter, the one from ign. switch, and put the meter on it. I only got 11 volts. I did as John Mc vicker did. Simple and cured my problem.

The spot seems fairly small. I would level it with a good body filler and then install the liner. But then again I'm cheap.:hillbilly:
