Don't know specific, but my switch (1975) would smoke when I went to high beam. I thoroughly cleaned the brass contacts and WD40'ed the mechanism . All's well now.
Don't know if this is the right place, but does anyone remember the Hella off road light ad that had a frilled izard in the foreground and a dilapidated '40 in the background with the Hellas glowing? I've been trying to find that old image, with no luck.
I went through the same back and forth for a couple of years. I finally chose the 33’s and am so glad I did. I just have a sagged 2.5inch liftand stock wheels. I was worried that I would not have enough oomph to pull mountain passes but can’t really tell the difference from the 31’s I previously...
Well guess what, The lovely Mrs. skidplate and i just got back from that very same place. Sorry I missed you. I even saw a tan '40 with no top while on our drive.
I had the exact problem for a couple of years. I pulled the wire to starter, the one from ign. switch, and put the meter on it. I only got 11 volts. I did as John Mc vicker did. Simple and cured my problem.
