Yes, I'm familiar with the wiring, plugs, and additional work that goes into it. But this thread is seeming to be sidetracked. I guess I'm asking specifically for the prices people have paid for axles in the past, but then again, MUD members seem to avoid talking about the price of stuff.
I'm...
@slow95z I've read a lot about the pros and cons of factory lockers and personally prefer the least amount of aftermarket stuff on my cars as possible. Just a preference. I also think factory lockers hold a lot more value when selling a LC than an aftermarket. And that's something I'm always...
Thank you @lp2k for the part numbers.
Is it as simple as Pin 2 on positive to Unlock, Pin 3 on positive to Lock? That's what I've found. The junkyard is a ways away from me so I'm trying to have him test it before I drive there.
After some searching I see that the FSM cautions against using battery voltage to test the actuators. Any quick and easy tips to do this? Definitely don't want to burn out the actuator.
And I'm unable to find a part number for the locker ECU. Anyone have a number handy?
I'm looking for some quick responses to a price on front and rear axles with oem lockers. This would include the differential switch, locker ecu, and are from hub to hub. No rust. Came from a cruiser with 130k on it with no offroad wear.
I can pick up the whole shabang for 3k.
Too high? Just...
I am very confident the races are seated. I couldn't fit a fingernail beneath the race and the seat in the hub when I was done pounding them in. Can it be anything else?
For now, I think I'll torque them the old fashioned way (by feel) and drive for another 20 miles and see if it's loose again.
Rebuilt the knuckles about a month ago and haven't touched the LC since. I didn't see this thread and torqued it to the FSM manual at about 4 ft/lbs for the inner and 65 ft/lbs for the outer. After 20 miles of driving the driver side was considerably loose. As in, really loose. I took it apart...
As someone who recently bought a LC with low miles (127k) that had 24 years of Toyota dealer records (PO was the shop manager for Toyota dealership) and had a single owner, I don't think that price is crazy. My truck had some kinks to work out, but has nice paint and a clean interior. I think...
Just want to confirm that replacing the ABS pump with a used pump SOLVED the ABS Code 51 for me. Was pretty easy to bleed and besides one of the ABS lines needing to be torched to loosen up, went smoothly.
When you all are referring to Chinese radiators are you referring to Denso rads? Or off brand parts store rads? I was under the impression Denso rads were the OEM replacement for most Toyota/Lexus cars/trucks.
That is true based on the current battery technology. The optimist's argument would be that with greater market share, more innovation would happen which would cut the carbon footprint down. Elon Musk's Battery Day seemed to be a good indication of where the technology could go. I think that's...
I'm sure you've all been fighting against seatbelts, the banning of automatic weapons, smog regulations, and nunchuck and billyclub legalities for forever. Keep up the good work. I desperately miss my 18th century right to carry a sword and my 19th century right to challenge anyone to a duel...
I still don't know how an oil filter could cause any sort of noise in an engine. There's nothing that moves. Dirt particles in oil don't cause noise. I'm not sure who is saying this, but it doesn't make any sense.
Why not move? Plenty of people will pay top dollar to live in NorCal (or as you put it: Hell). But then you couldn't b*tch about California anymore. It's a tough decision.
Does anyone know of an actual study looking at oil filter quality? I don't know how a non-Toyota oil filter would cause "knocking" which I would think would be valves tapping from dry seals. We all have anecdotal evidence, but I mean real evidence. Even searching for reviews and comparisons you...
That doesn't make much sense. California has some of the most advanced power grids in the world simply because there are so many wildfires. There's been a huge push and a ton of improvement in putting lines underground to prevent fires. Article
And there are solar farms being installed like...
