Electrical help with heater blower on '78 SA FJ

Guys: Apologies for not getting back quicker, winter arrived early up here in Idaho with the FJ taking a lower priority. The heater I bought came with a fan switch had been over sprayed with blue body paint. I can't be sure what color the wires are. All the household cleaners, paint thinner...

Here is a photo of the fan pull switch and the plug I found under the dash. I can't really get any better view of it or the wire color.

Electrical help with heater blower on '78 SA FJ

I haven't done anything to the wiring and can't speak for the PO or POs. Are you saying the white/black is ground and should be 0 volts? My FJ40 didn't have a heater so when installing this heater I have found plugs that have matched with both the blower though too short to mate and the Pull...

Electrical help with heater blower on '78 SA FJ

Guys: Good afternoon. I checked my jumper and color coded it to make sure. Tried it again with the same results, fan works with the engine off but not with the key in the ON position. I swapped the blue/white and blue/black wires and it just switched the fan speed. Craig

Electrical help with heater blower on '78 SA FJ

By backwards I mean the blower should only work when the ignition is turned on, not lose power when I turn the key on. Correct me but isn't the only reason why the blower has power when the ignition is turned on so you don't accidently leave the fan on running the battery down with the ignition...

Electrical help with heater blower on '78 SA FJ

THW: I had to build a jumper in the engine compartment because the plug from the blower and the plug with the same wire color configuration were the same male connectors. I did find a four wire plug up under the dash. 3-Ps: I have power to the blower until I move the key from ACC to ON..

Electrical help with heater blower on '78 SA FJ

Guys: Good afternoon. I have installed the factory heater in my '78 SA FJ that didn't have one, all went well. The issue I have is that the blower works on both low and high speed with the engine off but when I turn the engine on I lose power to the blower. I have the wiring diagram (fig...

    Retractable seatbelt question..

Thanks, I have found a way to make it work with some of the hardware provided with the purchase of the seatbelts. I thought I was pretty knowledgeable on the subject of FJs, clearly I was not. I made a rushed purchased that I am dealing with now. I first drove a FJ as a very young airmen in...

    FJ40 rear tire carrier

The tire carrier only swing out 90 degrees, I wish it went a full 270. I just finished building a shed to store our travel trailer and the FJ. It's 18 ft wide with a 14 ft door, so with the FJ taking up the front end parked parallel with door I don't have room to maneuver the mower in without...

    FJ40 rear tire carrier

Thanks I have given up on the tire carrier. I might remove the spar and see if that buys me any room. I am trying to gain just a few inches so I can get the riding lawnmower in the shed.

    Retractable seatbelt question..

Good morning. I have attached a few photos from behind the passenger seat. I thought I might be able to mount the retractable mechanism but don't have room with the jump seat down.

    FJ40 rear tire carrier

Thanks if it were that easy I would have already done it. Removing the tire doesn't give me much added room as the tire carrier has a built in hub that is almost the width of the tire when the tire is removed. I will try and remove the pins....
