    Transfer case?

From that thread: EDIT-- now I see that 2mbb has already replied giving this advice.

    Transfer case?

I found this post that shows the linkage and describes how the HNL is separate from the 4wd-2wd part of the shifter. It sounds to me like something went wrong in your HNL part of the shifter and you might be stuck in N. This thread describes them trying to fix the problem.

A/C system - how to remove the cooling unit, evaporator, expansion valve

So I went looking for 2 oz of PAG 46 oil, and I found this on Amazon. Each syringe is 2 oz, so I only need one, but it was only 9 bucks the same as one big bottle at NAPA. I am a little concerned that 3 of the syringes appear to have some air in them. So my plan is to use the one that...

A/C system - how to remove the cooling unit, evaporator, expansion valve

I guess I will be the guy to bump this thread since it is supposed to be 117 here in AZ on Sunday. Ouch. I have a late 93 with R134 and I believe I have a bad expansion valve. I have purchased a new denso expansion valve and a new denso receiver/drier from rockauto. I plan to follow...

In Memory of Kevin, Tools R US

I remember when Kevin showed at the club meeting with that new-to-him Lexus. He was rightfully very proud of that find. That Lexus went from never having been on a trail to running all over the state with Kevin behind the wheel. I wouldn't have guessed that was more than 15 years ago. Time...

    TRAGIC NEWS

I posted on the 80's forum, but I want to say it again. Kevin was a great guy and he will be missed.

In Memory of Kevin, Tools R US

This is so very shocking and sad. Kevin was always so willing to give good advice. He will be missed. Since Kevin was in Mesa I had the opportunity to stop by his shop many times. He was always willing to answer my questions with only a "small" amount of well-deserved sarcasm. And he could...

    Transmission shot??

After thinking about this some more, my best guess is that there remained some radiator fluid/water in the transmission after the first flush. And that, combined with whatever damage was done the first time, is what finally killed the transmission on the Kaibab trip one month later. As...

    Transmission shot??

Ok, to help my brother out a little bit. Here is the section of the troubles PDF Voodu3 posted for "vehicle does not move". Given that his problems started when his radiator blew and filled his transmission with radiator fluid, which of these problems is more likely to be the culprit? It...

Blocking the EGR valve output? Bad Idea?

So you put the plate between the EGR valve and the intake? That would stop the EGR gasses from going to the engine, but I don't think it would stop everything. I don't think that would block the outlet to the modulator that I am trying to block. If you look at the FSM picture above it shows...

Blocking the EGR valve output? Bad Idea?

Blocking the EGR valve output? Bad Idea?

Do you mean the inlet port to the EGR valve? That probably would be better since it would close off the whole thing. But I am not sure how to do that. I remember seeing a thread where someone said that you could unscrew the pipe going into the EGR valve and put a quarter in it. I guess I...

Blocking the EGR valve output? Bad Idea?

I hadn't really thought about that, but the number one reason is that I don't have a welder and don't know how to weld. And I figured jb weld was as close as a non welder could come. It does seem like welding might be easier. Jared

Blocking the EGR valve output? Bad Idea?

First I should note that this is a 93 80 series. Because it is a 93 the EGR is not technically required, and there is no sensor and it doesn't throw a code when it is turned off. So a while back I started to have some EGR valve issues. I ended up looping the vacuum lines to turn off the...

Brake Booster Remove and Replace (real time)

I am not 100% sure that it needs to be moved in. But I do know that sitting on my workbench the push rod on the new brake booster is sticking out 0.67 mm farther than the old brake booster. And I understand that it is better to be little short than a little long. That is why I was going to...

Brake Booster Remove and Replace (real time)

Yes, I am still working on the rod that comes out of the brake booster, not the rod that connects to the pedals. As the guy is pointing too in the preview of the video. I will get to the pedal rod next. But once again I am stuck. I haven't been able to make that booster push rod screw in...

Brake Booster Remove and Replace (real time)

I found a pretty good video explaining how to measure for the proper push rod length. This is on a Nissan Patrol but I betting the process is pretty similar. I am going to use his technique to calculate the needed push rod length, and compare that number to what was on the original brake...

Brake Booster Remove and Replace (real time)

Ok, I have determined that the push rod on the new booster is sticking out a bit farther than the old one. But it is not easy to adjust that push rod-- I haven't been able to stop it from spinning. But after some searching I found this method here from HRTROB that I am going to try: Help...

Brake Booster Remove and Replace (real time)

Thanks for your help. I took the advice and just pulled a little harder and was able to move the master cylinder back several inches. I then got the brake booster out without too much difficulty. It was a tight fit with the intake but it came out. I am now onto the step of adjusting the...

Brake Booster Remove and Replace (real time)

Ok, I am trying to do a quick remove and replace of the brake booster. I am trying to get this back on the road for a New Year's trip. It is a "later" 93 with ABS. I have been following the advice of LandCruiserPhil's thread Brake Booster R&R and a few others. The first step here is to...
