    Cracked Fuel Injector Plastic

That’s what I was thinking, wanted to make sure I wasn’t overlooking something simple.

    Cracked Fuel Injector Plastic

I posted this in my turbo build thread, but figured it was worthy of its own post. I sent my injectors out for cleaning to InjectorRx. Spray patterns were good after cleaning, but the #6 injector has a cracked plastic housing. It’s cracked on both sides. FWIW, the injector report did not...

    Painstakingly Slow Turbo Install

Also, how do I clock the turbo. From the @OTRAMM YouTube video I see the oil inlet hose should be pointing up. When I rotate the turbo to this position, the turbo outlet obviously is not in the correct orientation.

    Painstakingly Slow Turbo Install

Got the injectors back in the mail today, glad I sent them off a few were struggling. The orange harness housing is cracked on #6 but the report doesn’t make any note of it. Think I’ll be okay with 2 part epoxy or does it need to be replaced?

    Painstakingly Slow Turbo Install

What’s the best way to go about attaching the downpipe? Wastegate first or turbo? And how forceful can I be without worrying about breaking something?

    Painstakingly Slow Turbo Install

I was able to knock out a good percentage of the turbo side of the build yesterday. A few things I learned: I could not install the J pipe with the AC line and bracket installed. Once I removed the AC bracket the J pipe slid into position. If you've hard parts ceramic coated, I recommend...

    Painstakingly Slow Turbo Install

So the above picture of the wastegate with the two banjo bolts is correct?

    Painstakingly Slow Turbo Install

Working on the turbo/waste gate side and confused by the instructions. What is the sintered air filter that goes into the top of the wg? I think my banjo bolt to the left of the opening is in the correct position, but the only other thing that fits in the top is another banjo bolt.

    EGR delete causes increased temp?

I'm definitely not an expert on the EGR system, but I don't think the the EGR sensor and coolant temps would be correlated. I'd check out the radiator, coolant and fan clutch.

    Rebuild or swap?

You need to provide more information IMO. Try to identify the problem before jumping to worst case scenarios. Also, ACC isn't too far away if you need professional help.

OEM Brake Caliper Clarification Needed (Loaded vs. Unloaded)

The 4 new OEM calipers my buddy ordered were all raw/unpainted metal.

    EGR delete causes increased temp?

I've been using one for over a year now and I haven't seen that problem. I also don't have hills to climb.

Wits’ End- Something about mounting balls 🤔

Well, this is a tech forum and my 80 and an F-22 could be the same age. Glad to see more great stuff from Wits End!

    Painstakingly Slow Turbo Install

I'm having trouble finding a machine shop to hot tank the intake manifolds. I tried carb cleaner on the upper intake plenum and I'm basically wasting my time. These guys seem to have a solution and I already have everything to get this done. It's a heated parts cleaner using degreaser...

    Painstakingly Slow Turbo Install

Removed the fuel rail and injectors today. Glad I did, the exterior was nasty, especially #5 and #6. Most of the o-rings and gaskets were brittle as well. Got them packaged up and mailed for cleaning/flow testing. I must have jostled the metal tube adjoining the PHH, I've now developed a...

    Painstakingly Slow Turbo Install

Spent most of the day working on my wife’s 3 year old GMC that has developed an A/C leak and bad taillight assembly 🤬. I’m slowly convincing her to get a Sequoia. I did find some time to tinker, and found this orientation for the fuel return hose out of the fuel pressure regulator. It does...

Lower Intake Plenum cleaning... How to?

Working on my turbo kit installation. I've got the upper plenum removed. Is it worth it to remove the intake manifold? My turbo installation thread is located HERE for reference. The engine was rebuilt 1k miles ago and EGR bypassed. Seems like a catch can may be worth it at a minimum.

    Painstakingly Slow Turbo Install

I've been researching the intake plenum (top of the clamshell) and intake manifold (bottom clamshell). I searched the FSM multiple times but could not find a process for removal of the intake manifold. Anyone have a diagram? During my search, I found THIS THREAD regarding whether it's even...

    Painstakingly Slow Turbo Install

On a related note, since I have my EGR deleted and blocked off, can any of this mess be removed? @NLXTACY turbo instructions make it very clear the orange/black valve must be operational for the turbo. I need to do some more research before I drop another $500 on parts I may not need.

    Painstakingly Slow Turbo Install

I had some time before work this afternoon and was able to remove the upper intake. Pretty straightforward minus the bolt closest to the firewall, I was only able to get a 1/4 extension through the small opening from under the engine. That plus a cheater bar and 6pt socket did the trick...
