Can these be swapped in place of a three speed transmission, meaning will they just bolt in? I have a 1972 FJ with stock three speed and stock trans case, 350 sbc.

Just need to know what the spline count of the trans output shaft is.

Well i'm no 40 guy, but if they follow the 55/60 configurations, the late ones will have the 19 spline that will fit up to a splitcasse used from 80ish till ?. Not sure when they changed over but the earlier ones; 74 till 80ish, will heave the older 16 spline output shaft.

Three speed has ten spline out put so to use the transfer case from three speed you would need the gear from 74 easy to source and a four speed bell housing
