SILVER Star
I finally got around to filling the hole in my bumper. I've been cleaning and rebuilding an 8274 that's been sitting on the shelf for yrs.

This is epic. Rad cruiser. Rad trip. Rad family. Jealous.we were headed towards fairbanks. but so far had it over in Denali, down to Whittier on the return trip back up now for a few days then out to Seward for fishing next weekend and see where it goes from there

Your shroud is absolutely perfect. You want the back of the fan to stick out like that.Fitted a new thermostat (the first one its had for a while - I thought it was taking a while to get up to temperature!).
I took advice from another post I saw recently to clean and paint any part you remove prior to replacing. I now have one clean part on the engine at least
In the process I noticed that my fan isn't fully shrouded by the cowling because my whole radiator assembly leans forwards. The support rods look about right. Is it supposed to be like this or did someone change the rods??

Looking good. If you haven't already, hit the silver parts of the ends with some clearcoat. They'll quickly rust otherwise. Ask me how I knowI rebuilt my center arm and draglink end yesterday. I am swapping my fj40 back to manual steering been collecting the parts over the last month. I should be ready by the end of the week. Of course I am waiting on a 5 dollar relay rod end clamp. I was planning on reusing all the clamps for the tierods and ends that are already on the 40 but whoever converted my fj40 to power steering welded the draglink tube to a tie rod tube to make it work. so I have two different clamps. Dont worry I have the pins for the castle nuts!

100% correct on the clear coatLooking good. If you haven't already, hit the silver parts of the ends with some clearcoat. They'll quickly rust otherwise. Ask me how I know
I would have never thought of clear coat.. I was just going to spray them black. but the clear will look so much better. Thanks for the tip!Looking good. If you haven't already, hit the silver parts of the ends with some clearcoat. They'll quickly rust otherwise. Ask me how I know
Always good practice to keep track of what you have on hand...freshly powder coated OEM wheels, brand new OEM hubcaps, new Kenda Klever 33-9.50x15. I don’t remember the color the shop used but I can get it. He said it’s his most popular color for FJ40 rims. I wanted a shade lighter than my soft top frame from Real Steel.
