I actually just did that as temporary since the location was perfect and was going to do a double plate welded to the U-bolt plate but haven’t gotten around to it. Actually completely forgot about it until just now. I should get on that as that would be bad if that U-bolt popped.

How do you like your PSC Hydro assist? I swore to myself that if i ever got another solid front axle vehicle it was a must (last few jeeps sucked on steering)

It’s pretty good, all Rams are going to be the same if they are the same size bore/stroke, just pick your brand. 1.5” you basically don’t feel. Feels like a stock 60 with 33’s. The difference is it still feels like that with 5 psi and the front end locked in the rocks too. A lot
easier on pumps too.

If I was building this truck again with what I know now I would probably go with a Saginaw box inside the frame. Wouldn’t need the ram then.

So ir the spot where the ram is now just a suggestion make a top plate over the ubolts to support it and have a double shear.

For about the last year or so my driver’s window had gotten really hard to crank - last week it finally let go, i took it apart and the regulator is actually intact but the rubber liner that grips the glass to the regulator is what actually failed. Fortunately it is the same as a bunch of 80’s Toyotas and comes in a long length for about $12 that can be trimmed to fit whatever.

The teeth on my regulator were all worn out regardless so I was able to source a replacement regulator from Amir ( @FJ40GURU) in Australia. Hopefully helps to ease it up.
The vent-window regulators are annoyingly different then standard ones.

Also after more then a year I finally started putting my front bumper back together. I am reusing the side wings and tube and I made a new center section, lasered some mounting tabs, and will bend up a new main hoop. I also have a straight hood and intact headlight surrounds I need to install but I wanted to get the bumper on first.
I am also considering welding up the marker lights and fender vent holes like the JDM diesel are since my fenders are hammered anyways

also unrelated but interesting is latest personal car project.. 1979 Toyota Corona liftback sedan. I was going to do a turbo K24/4l60 in it but that had some nightmare fitment issues and I ended up getting a really low mileage 1JZGE/a340e combo for super cheap and super local and that fit way easier.

I am still wanting to go bananas with the FJ62, turbo, standalone, 8HP70, etc but just can't justify taking it off the road when it has been so reliable. I still am going to pull the motor, fix my 3rd gear syncro, motor mounts and go internal slave cyl at some point but hopefully that is just a quick refresh. I also somehow stumbled into owning four other Land Cruisers currently that all need stuff

^ I like. Belissimo.

Cool. I would have liked to see the Honda under the hood

Me too but it way more hassle then I wanted to get into with size the GM transmission and the floor/firewall, and the K24 had some serious interference with the rear-mount truck steering this thing has. Just too many major issues to be worth it for a car I can't even find a windshield gasket for

I would maybe like to do a completely stock K24 into my FJ45 project though.

Great looking car right there!

Just realized I never posted about my trip to this year’s ONSC Carolina Relic Run

This is definitely becoming one of my favorite events. I drove the 62 up with my girlfriend and my parents towed my FJ40 up. It was super cool to share what I do with them.

The 62 performed almost flawlessly with the expectation of a few minor issues,
1. Hot and loud AF on the highway with no AC and original door/window seals way overdue for replacement.
2. The corner of my Rosen sunvisor randomly snapped lol
3. Somehow managed to shear all my left side knuckle studs. I think they were the cheap Chinese ones, fortunately I had new OEM spares with me. Thanks to Ryan @UZJ105 for the extra come washers.
4. Accidentally ran over all the camp chairs and pots and pans the last night while packing up.

Right before the event I did a bunch of way -overdue repairs and updates.

I built a new bumper, fixed my winch and re-wired it, new cable, I better secured my spare axle shafts by welding an actual bolt to my sliders Vs just zip ties (they rattled), and I installed one of my filler neck/vent hose kits (shameless plug), along with a nicer used filler neck, new body gasket, and fill cap, which completely fixed the really bad gas smell I would get in the cabin. I also finally fixed my gas door cable which had been pinched by one of my seat mounts, and installed a straight back seat and new hood, finally undoing all the cosmetic damage from the wreck in 2021. The last to fix from that is my broken motor mounts which will happen at some point.

Next trip coming up is GSMTR in June. I really wanted to pull my engine and fix my motor mounts, replaced the bad 3rd gear syncro in my NV4500, upgrade bellhousing and clutch slave to the internal style, fix my exhaust etc but have not had the shop space clear to have the truck inside for the two weeks or so it would take me working after hours.

What I did manage to get done yesterday morning was get a Grizzly locker installed. Have been open rear since the end of 2020 after coming home from Rubicon. While it hasn’t been a huge issue in when the trails are drier I would like to hit some hard stuff at Gsmtr and if it rains the open rear is a killer.

I was really holding out for a ARB but budget hasn’t permitted. I bought this locker from another shop on closeout for deal and had it on the shelf, plus no additional plumbing/wiring…
So far on the street the Grizzle is night and day better the lunchbox lockers I used to run. Way quieter and less intrusive. And should be a lot stronger without the stock crosspin /carrier to rely on.

migmaster 250. Best welder in it's class ever. I have 4. the oldest is still running from 1991. 1000s of lbs of wire since. They were green back then and called L-TEC.

That's awesome. I got this one two years ago at a local liquidation for $250 since it "didn't work". Ground bolt was just loose inside the cover. I need to put a new liner in it but otherwise been a beast.

Glad to hear you'll make it up to GSMTR. You'll love that grizzly. Nice bumper fab.
