And while the old wasn't bad at all. mechanically speaking, I've always longed for diesel and a 5 speed. Fast forward a tad, and here it is. Flew in to New Mexico and drove it straight home to New York. 32 hour nonstop trip, 3 dudes (myself, my brother and a friend). Made a quick trip of it. Truck never missed a beat.

Just picked one up myself about a month ago. Mine was in Missouri but originally it came from Canada! My first FJ60 was gas so this one to me is such an improvement with the 5 speed. Not surprised you drove it straight through! Congrats

Run the turbo. Or get a 12HT like Aussie said and sell the manifold to Pete? Very nice work BTW. Enjoy seeing your updates.

I am going to run the turbo on the 12ht manifold I sourced. I may keep my current manifold for my spare 2h. Will probably part that out at some point, or sell hole, or keep... I think @pistonpete may have expressed his desire for my 12ht manifold, if I ended up not using. Will keep posting progress on here, as I advance through the task at hand.

Ok, so old frame's out, axles need to be stripped, cleaned, and painted. Then the spring packs, then drop new frame on them and so on, and on, and on.
Question, I have a set of 4.10 thirds, shall I drop them in, in Lieu of the 3.70's? I may have a good excuse to run 33's.
My 31's are brand new though.

I had just redone the axles. Seals bearings and all. My 4.10s come from an abused truck. Not sure of their condition. Will inspect and decide after.

I think splitting the leafs and painting is overkill, but rust would seep out from between th3 packs if I only painted the outside. At least it'll look proper.

So after scraping them of rust with a flapper disc, I use a water based rust encapsulator, CRC I think. When that is done, I use a POR 15 paint. Its a finishing top coat. Looks and feels good after it cures.

Gentle peeps, back from my trip. Love traveling g the country and seeing places.
Now, back to the grind. Gotta get this cruiser done, sigh...

I got the roller ready for motor and tranny mount relocation. Will tackle that in the next few.
