Nice. Curious what the machine shop costs will be for you. My 3FE head was about $600 last summer. I haven’t torn down my block yet tho. Funny - Ive got a Kubota to help w the heavy lifting too :) L3901
I had an extra head that I sent to the machine shop earlier last year. I believe it was around $525. I took it to Allied Machine in Atlanta.

I must have missed it - why not doing a full rebuild on the bottom end?
The bottom end is still mechanically sound with good compression. If I had the ability I would get a Mosley Motors or Rocket City Cruisers rebuild, but at this point in my (currently) young life that is money I can’t spend.

Timing cover resealed, the gasket I was sent by Amyama was aftermarket despite that I ordered an OEM one, oh well. Front crank seal OEM no. 90311-45008.
Aisin Clutch kit installed with a resurfaced flywheel also.

Helped @cruiserinsanity reseal the H55F today. We split off the rear adapter and replaced the gasket, added a little of the Toyota orange FPIG. We also replaced the bearing retainer gasket and oil seal, again adding a little orange goo. We did the same to the top cover but ran into issues once installed in that the transmission would not shift. No photos but we had the shift lever installed testing this. We worked at this for a good hour before walking away. This transmission shifted fine before it was pulled so ?????. In moving it around we did hear a "klunk" with something in the tranny moving but everything appeared ok. We messed with the reverse gear and fork to the point of aggravation. After a meal we came back to it. Reexamined the positioning of the shift collars and the reverse gear collar. I adjusted the reverse gear shift rail, we dropped the cover on and all was well.

@cruiserinsanity will be adding parts numbers to his thread.

We rebuilt the transfer case this weekend, mated it to the H55F, and hooked things up to the engine. Now were ready to drop the drivetrain back into the 60, hopefully that will happen next weekend.

The old thrust washers still looked good. This H42 and transfer case are ones that I swapped in about 25 years ago and the transfer case has never been split. It came from a late '84 with some accumulated mileage. I acquired it from a Canadian that was doing a BJ-H55F swap into his 60 because my H42 had developed bad bearings. This transfer case easily had 250k miles on it. Preload on the rebuilt case was 20 in-lbs.

We wrangled the H55F-t-case combo around, set it up behind the 3FE and with a little juggling, shaking, and turning the crank we mashed the parts together. If the weather is good next weekend we expect to have the drivetrain back in the 60.

We worked on dropping the 3FE-H55F combo into the 60 today. It's in, well almost as we still have two mounts to bolt up. The passenger side motor mount is in but the engine is shifted toward the passenger side and we have to shift it over. The transmission crossmember is also only partially bolted up; alignment again.
