I kind of doubt that it will be occupied by people. TBH a more likely scenario is that the spot has snow on it or cow poop.

So if everyone wants to let me know when you are planning on meeting up id like to know who to expect for camping on Friday night/ meetup on Saturday. Also if someone wants to lead a convoy from Bozeman/Belgrade Saturday morning feel free to chime in. Otherwise, we all meet up at the start of the trailhead at 10 on Saturday.

And also still to early to say but the weather is lookin good! that being said, I'm going rain snow sleet or shine!

I'm in. Just trying to figure out if I can camp Friday or not. Will know by Wednesday.

My plans are still in flux for camping, but 100% in for the ride Saturday. I'll meet you all out there.
it better be the 40 ;)

In for camping and trail ride, leaving Bzn Friday around 3ish. Caravan cool if anyone else has similar departure time.

we’ll prob head toward the 2019 camping location and check it out.

406 cruisers is going to the Ringing rocks!

(I WILL EDIT THIS FIRST PAGE AS WE UPDATE/CHANGE THE PLAN)

The Plan: I will be camping out in the Forest Service land just north of the trail. Access from the Whitehall side. There’s a fork in the road on Hay Canyon and a couple of miles up the road there is a nice clearing that can handle a few rigs. I will send a PIN to those who are interested in joining me.

(All Times and Convoy meets are tentative) I will update as people chime in

FRIDAY CONVOY MEETING LOCATION:

Albertsons Belgrade GAS STATION @ 6:30 PM – I will be grabbing groceries and gas and heading out to Whitehall.

SATURDAY CONVOY FROM BOZEMAN MEETING: TBD- If anyone wants to set this, please let me know. Usually leaving from Bozeman @ 9 is plenty of time to get to the start of the trail and meetup with everyone.

SATURDAY MEETING LOCATION: 10 AM : Start of the trailhead: 46.06753, -112.10652

Start of the trailhead: 46.06753, -112.10652 – This is where to Air down. This is the start of Hay Canyon Road.

We will be on Ham channel 146.460
GMRS radio Channel 7

All club rules apply, please come prepared. This is not a hard trail, there are bypasses for the “obstacles”.

Racing stripes from tree limbs are likely, you can experience scrapes on your side steps if they are factory and hang down, but only if you aren’t paying attention to where you are driving. There is a mild water crossing that shouldn’t give you much trouble. But it will likely bee deep enough to submerge both axels.

Stock Rigs are more than capable of doing this trail, there are just a couple of spots that you may touch rocks, but I’ve never seen anyone damage anything not intentionally.

Bring a Lunch, we should be all be off the trail and reach the Ringing Rocks by sometime midafternoon. Plenty of time to make it back to Bozeman for dinner. WE will have a lot of opportunities to stop and take pictures, watch the more adventurous people drive over the “obstacles”

I don’t want to discourage anyone who is new to 4x4, this is a very easy trail, you should not have any trouble. We are all a team and we will make sure you make it home just fine.

if YOU HAVE ANY QUESTIONS DONT BE AFRAID TO ASK! WERE ALL HERE TO HAVE FUN!

PLEASE RSVP: Please let me know if you plan on attending. This trail has the ability to facilitate many rigs, I’ve led groups as big as 20, but we may need to change plans to accommodate if a large number want to camp Friday night ETC.

There are a couple of people not on Mud that i added to list below:

Ilol be there Saturday morning. Is there a meet up in Bozeman to travel over ?

Busy week for me, but it looks like I can head out on Saturday (I would have loved to camp, just had other plans already for friday/tonight). I don't see any specific plans for convoy leaving on Saturday, so I will through one out there. I will be at the Manhattan, MT Thriftway Super Store gas station (just off of I-90) and plan to leave no later then 8:45 am.

If it is busy there (surprisingly it can be), I might hang out in the dirt patch that is just south of the thriftway. Make a shout out here if you are interested in meeting up here. Thanks and I am pumped to see you all Saturday!

For those who are camping on Friday night, i will be at the Albertsons in Belgrade a little early and wait until 6:30.

Otherwise just head to the coordinates via the instructions i posted. shouldn't be hard to find. Ill be monitoring the HAM and GMRS so just call out on the radio when you get close to hay canyon RD

Another thought i had is it might not be a bad idea if someone has a chain saw. i imagine were not the first through the trail but i wouldn't be surprised if we found some downed trees

I don’t have many pictures since I was busy spotting a lot of the time but here are a few I took

Thanks for posting these. I realized that my post this morning never posted. Anyway, I did a quick cut of the video from today. My camera puked a few different times today so I didn't get all the video I hoped to get. This is a consequence of not formatting a card before use, and failing to charge batteries.... Oh well, it was a good time. Thanks to all who spotted.

The youtube video is unlisted. If I have time next week I'll spruce it up a bit.

Currently sorting through my pictures. Here’s a couple teasers. I will post the Google drive dump once they’re all uploaded. Anyone who wants to contribute just PM me your email, and I’ll add you.

And funny story, after everyone left I went back into pipestone to rip around for a bit and go camp out and this happened. Just sent it a little too hard and nailed a rock in a narrow spot. Instant flat and I’m lucky I didn’t kill a rim. Whoops

That sucks!
