Regarding the roof rack. Looks to be made with superstrut/unistrut? I make all kinds of things with it. Curious about the towers, where did those come from?

Thanks,
Ian

you are correct. Saw them at a big box lumber store chain we have here in the MW and thought they would make a good structure for a roof rack. Also included on each edge a full length e track to add stability but also to give me an unlimited number of attachment points. The roof clamps are smittybilt w a 1x2 crossmember attached. Seems quite solid even though my metalwork skills are much worse than my woodworking......

Yeah, that stuff looks s like tinker toys for adult children. I’ve made several racks and accessories out of it. Been using a pile of their fittings as I can reconfigure/repurpose at will.

The s***tyBuilt towers and crossbars are all one unit? Sold as?

With UniStrut and E-track, one could move mountains.

Mother’s Day request, the wife wanted the hard top off. The Hard top came off without a hitch, had to take it off to do the headliner anyways. Then the sides and rear window. Dug out the best top to throw on for now and rolled up the back end.
Now I am debating on a regular soft top (FST clone) or just a bikini top. I do have quick hinges (need to paint and then install), should I decide to take the doors off sometime this summer.

They look like a good fit. I used 2nd row seats from an Opel Zafira because they fold very flat and also have isofix mounts for the kids (3rd row never seem to??).
Car seats also tend to sit a lot lower than 4x4 seats which worked for my setup.

no, i bought the 1x2 steel tubing and some plastic end caps for them. Cut at 60" each

I gotta finish up lots more stuff but I really want to put one of those Winches on the front of mine.

It improves the ride quality and puts the nose down a little bit where it belongs. Also, it works and looks amazing!

I was curious to try a trick I saw on a Jurassic park jeep build. It turned out pretty good. I used krylon gloss smoke grey.

Krylon smoke gray is what I put on mine as well. It's not the 100% correct color, but it's a darned good looking color.

That looks great. 👍 Glad to see someone else doing the card trick to paint mounted wheels, I have been doing this for years. I used this when I did mine a few months back, similar to smoke gray but with a matte and slightly textured finish.
