Older Engel fridge (1 Viewer)

I found an old Engel on market place for a pretty good deal. The owners says that she bought it 6-7 years ago. Engels supposedly run forever but I’m still worried that it’ll prematurely die on me. Anybody have any experience with these older Engels?

I wouldn't hesitate to buy it at that price. I have two Norcolds that are older than that Engel and both work fine every time I plug them in. The older Norcold and Engel are essentially the same unit.

Here is my 30+ year old one:

Picked up an older Norcold fridge.

Found a Norcold 12V fridge (early 90's--used) on Craigslist for $150. Went to take a look at it. It's a little bulkier than the newer models (especially in the motor compartment), but looks basically the same. I don't know crap about 12V fridges, and the guy I bought it from didn't know...

I bought a used unit 12 years ago and it is still going strong. I always figured I would replace it with something newer when it dies but it keeps going.

7 years is not old for a engel, not uncommon to see 30-40 year old ones out and about, they just suck more juice. My Dads engels would have been ~15years old when he sold them, working fine.

Have had mine since 2005…used everyday…
Only maintenance I had to do on it was replace a small 12v fan…only cause it had gotten noisy

6-7 years isn't old for an Engel, that's practically new. My Engel is about 20 years old, and I'd wager it'll still be going strong in another 20. Damn thing will probably outlast me.
