Also got my very own air mattress! It fits just about perfect. It's an Airbedz PPI-504
Sitting up while the mattress is fully inflated, my head barely clears the ceiling (I'm 5'11"). The high roof is nice! It's a shame they were never sold here in the US.
And diesels, and 5 speeds, and PTO's, and 70 series, and...

I took the cruiser on it's inaugural camping trip! It was a very long and arduous journey from my house to Lake Casitas (a whopping 4 miles).
Compared to my 1st gen 4Runner, the cruiser is way more spacious and comfortable. It's easy to move about inside, and to get in and out of.
I think curtains or similar are a must, especially when other nearby folks are glamping.

Also, idling, sitting next to a 6BT RV also idling, you can't even hear the 2H!

I haven't seen the lake this full in looong time.

Finished grinding and painting the patch panel, followed my some eastwood internal frame coating down the hole.

My winch cable finally showed up!
Getting the 3/8" cable through the hole and under the little clamp plate was a chore and required 4 hands, and marred my shiny new paint.
I had to pull excess through to be able to bend it over and then cut off the excess with a cutoff wheel.
It might have been easier to attach the cable to the spool with the spool removed from the winch, but that's a whole nother can of worms.

I finally got around to going through the glow plug system.

The glow light would flash for an instant, and then go into afterglow mode for a set duration.
I went through all of the checks in the book, and everything there checked out. Upon further reading, the glow timer reads a signal from the charging system. Ok, charging voltage too high! Aha! It must be the alternator regulator! Or so I thought...

The new regulator still was over charging. Ugh. So I started tracing wires and it led me to this mystery connector by the left fender:

It turns out that this cruiser originally came with an external regular and was converted to an internal regulator. And by converted I mean dropped in without jumpering the above connector or cutting it out and soldering... IG, L and S wires were all going to nothing. No wonder my battery light didn't work. And it's a wonder my batteries haven't blown up!

Now the battery light turns on when the key is in the on position engine off, the glow light will stay on for several seconds before turning off, and the alternator isn't over charging. Hooray!

This also motivates me to find out what the other mystery connectors are around the engine bay.
Anyone know what the below connectors are for?

These three are on the left by the battery:

And these two on the right by the other battery:

that one in your first pic with the heavy gauge Red/Yellow and White is on US FJ62's as well, not used for anything. The white wire is the main + off the battery (Alt Fusible link). Never seen any of the other ones so they must be diesel specific?

First picture ,round one is for the pump that comes with the jar for the headlight washers.
Last picture the round one could be for activating OEM electric winch.

Thanks! So I guess the washer connecter is vestigial as the fj62 quad headlights didn't get the headlight washer?

Picture of the washer jar I found on the web, you can see the round blue connector at the bottom:

My G spec HJ60 had the connector but not the washer. Had a GX high roof HJ60 that had OEM washers
Some quad HJ61 have washers from factory. Probably VX Spec.
My GX HJ61 has no washers but it does have the connector.

Toyota used same loom-parts for a variety of models/specs in the 6# series.

The last vestiges of the EDIC system and the vacuum shifter have been expunged. New conduit and lots of zip ties and no more open connectors bobbing about the starter.
Yes, I traced the wires all the way back and de-pinned them...

While I was in the dash I tidied up the wiring and monkeyed with the hand throttle detent spring. After tweeking it a bit and reinstalling, the hand throttle will lock in different positions like it is supposed to.
