This is a 1973 FJ40 project, located in south western Colorado (Ridgway). Colorado title. It starts and runs, but is definitely a project rig and needs tinkering/adjusting. I bought this from the second owner in Maine back around 2006 with the intention of building it into a trail rig. I eventually sold it upon moving to Colorado then bought it back about a year ago. This rig has not been on the road/registered for at least a decade or so. As stated in the previous sentence, this vehicle is originally from the east coast so the frame does have surface rust and some pitting. The rear of the frame was reinforced/plated where the worst of the rust was. New Cruiser Solutions spring mounts and diagonal braces are included with the sale, however the stock ones work fine. The tub was rebuilt with 3/16” steel by Wally’s Cruiser Emporium in southern Vermont back around 2007. The primer on the tub is in bad shape and should be reapplied. The doors do have some rust in the inside bottom seams behind the door seals. The F-engjne is out of a 68 according to the engine number. Rebuilt carb by Marks Road and electronic ignition. SM465 4-speed with low first gear bolted to the original 3-speed t-case with a Classic Cruisers adapter. The front axle is from a 78 FJ40, so it has disc brakes (new calipers with pads are included), it needs new seals and gaskets throughout. Mini truck power steering conversion with a Saginaw pump. The springs are roughly 3” lift springs, Doetch tech shocks with F250 shock towers in front (not installed) and guessable spring pins and shackles. The 34” Super Swampers hold air but are old and ride horribly. To get this back on the road it will need brake lines (included), install driveshafts, probably some wiring, windshield and back window glass installed (new windshield and used back glass are included), fuel lines, fluids check and topped off and the interior put back together, I’m sure there are a few other smaller items.
Some of the extra parts included with sale:
Parts for a rear disc swap
Metal Tech family cage kit
A bunch of random body and drivetrain seals and gaskets
A nicer pair of used FJ40 seats
Aluminum center console
Aussie locker
$6000, first person to actually put down money in the form of a deposit or full payment gets priority, not the first to make contact.

No worries. The front bumper/bar is a 4plus ARB copy, excellent build quality and great company to deal with. If I don’t get much interest in the rig within the first week or so I’d consider selling the bumper separately.

Sounds good - I have a new OEM bumper if that helps.

I would be interested in the seats if you sold them separately just fyi

Cool truck glws

Thanks for all the responses. I’m going to try sell all of it as a package unless the Cruiser takes forever to sell

seats appear to be from 1979+

Upon closer inspection these are from an old 79 FJ40 project. I did dig up new seat covers and cushions that will go with the 73 FJ40 ( will get pics as soon as I can). If the buyer wants the 79 + seats they can have them otherwise they’ll be available.

Just saw this thread. Glad you found a new home for it. Gus, we gotta catch up in CO next time I am out.

Whoever bought it got a straight deal. Have fun!
