Has anyone ever completely taken off cat converter and replaced with straight pipe? If so, how much louder was it and was it worth it with the extra noise. Not wanting to spend that much on replacement cat conv and just looking at options.

Subscribed for when the cat thieving assholes eventually steal my cats...The search function on the forum isn't always great, but you can get good results from Google. Here are a few threads addressing the same question that came up first
'96 Catalytic Converter Delete Mod?
Looked through the FAQ, did Mud and Google searches...not sure why I can't find anything? I'm looking to take both cats out (no emissions here) as I get my Y pipe redone. I'm figuring there's a resister I can fool the ECU with, exhaust guy says he can usually just move the sensor back and that...forum.ih8mud.com
Deleting Catalytic Converters 1994 FZJ80
Going to do some sliders over the next month, instead of doing extra catalytic converter protection I'm thinking of just deleting them. Since I have a 1994 and the O2 sensor is before the cats will I throw any codes deleting them and just running two pipes through? Wyoming doesn't require...forum.ih8mud.com
Remove catalytic converter ?
In arkansas we don't require a smog test on vehicles. Would my lc run any better if i cut the cat converter off and had a pipe welded in? Or would this cause an O2 sensor to go into fault mode or something similar? Always lookin for improvement!forum.ih8mud.com
First of all, why do your cats need replacing? Mine are 1993 with 312k miles and look new inside. Whatever has ruined your cats will ruin new ones. Without cats the exhaust stinks. The cats are there to burn off any unburned fuel still existing in the exhaust fumes.Has anyone ever completely taken off cat converter and replaced with straight pipe? I replaced both of my O2 sensors and would still occasionally get the P0420. Ran a bottle of the product below through, got one more light and then haven't had it return since. It's been about a year or so. Who knows, I wouldn't doubt the code will come back again some day. If it's just occasionally I don't mind clearing it.Thanks for all the replies and ideas. It keeps throwing check engine light code P0420 and I'm tired of looking at the check engine light. I had the O2 sensor replaced and it came back on about a month later. I was told that the only choices I had were to replace CC or run straight pipe but then i would have to deal with the extra noise. I didn't want it to sound like a crotch rocket going down the road either.
Just as an FYI some parts of the state of Arizona do require emission testing, below you'll find a link to the Arizona ADEQ web site that has maps of the different areas that do require emission equipment and testing,I'm registering my cruiser in Arizona because it's one of the states you can rego in without being a resident in and they don't require emissions.
