I dont think you will like that winch very much if you actually plan on using it.
That dash panel looks incredible.

Have been making some progress, have been painting parts for the motor, going with a Ford Gray which the whole motor and probably transmission will get once they come back out, can see the parts in the pick below in the back.

Also santa came to drop off some parts, a Lokar 16" single bend case mount shifter, an Advance Adapters smaller front output flange for the transfer case (backordered and still waiting on it), and finally some headers. I had a set before but they didnt fit so found these cast ones with ceramic coat, fit is perfect, nice and tight to the motor.

So continuing to paint for things in preparation for future assembly, AC mount I finished last night, will blast the alternator/PS pump mount tomorrow at work.

Also cleaned up the fender liners and fixed a few spots on them so they can be painted when I do the engine bay before the engine goes in.

Also cleaning up some seams on the firewall and cowl so that they can be epoxy primered and sealed before final paint.

I'm glad those manifolds are finally catching on and everyone is using them now. so much better then any of the OEM ones or tubular headers.

Yeah the quality is great for some simple and cheap Summit brand headers, and they're ceramic coated inside as well. and theyre super tight to the motor which is great.

Summit part #: SUM-9084B

two suggestions i wish id done...
1 try to fab horns for factory style motor mounts or look at the "well sorted" mounts. much better than the crappy biscuit mounts.
2 trade that linkage lokar shifter for a cable operated style

cheers

Awesome build! Just stumbled on your thread this evening. Definitely following this build.

Thank you!

Appreciate the suggestions but unfortunately were past both of those things at this point lol

Well you’re still at a point where it wouldn’t be too much of a pain.

Im likely going back in to redo the motor mounts (years later ) and it’s gonna be a major PITA by my estimate

Hey all, still alive, just extremely busy with life. Got married, working on a house, and work has been busier than ever.

To recap what I've done over the past 10 or so months: not a whole heck of a lot. Cleaned up the 5687 a bit, polished it up, painted the drum, new bushings. Also finally got in my driveshaft yoke, it was literally backordered for 6 months.

Some pics below, the 60 is looking quite sad, covered in dust in the shop with no love, but its time will come soon!

Made some progress today.... I am in no way a body man (I hate it tbh) but was able to fit up my replacement rocker corner today. At some point it looks like a stick or something went through the rocker and the body panel behind it, was able to source a replacement on here a while ago and here we are finally getting it all in. Almost done and ready to weld up, just need to finish the piece behind that supports the fender nuts. Everything will get cleaned up all pretty when its done.

And while I was down there I was admiring how clean this 216k mile frame is...

Great progress today on the rocker corner, got the fender mounting nuts with their extra support attached to the corner, then got the corner on and cleaned up! Went really smooth and have started to figure out the sheet metal work, welds smoothed out really well, will get some epoxy primer shortly.

Small things add up in the end...

Cleaned up the booster, master, and proportioning valve so they can be painted up.

Working on more wiring prep too and designing a winch mount for the 5687.

I don't think you will actually like using that Bellevue winch.

So this is pretty wild, but last night scrolling through the forums I found an old build thread for my cruiser from a PO! Started in late 2009 when it was living out in Colorado until it was sold to a gentleman in Wyoming in late 2010 or early 2011. That guy then sold it to another guy in Wyoming who solid it to my coworker who I bought it from!

Such a small world.

Elliott who started the old thread did a bunch of maintenance to the driveline and suspension when it had 202K miles on it, with it only having 216k miles on it now those items I'm sure are all still good! So very happy to hear this, and stoked I can keep it on the road!

Old thread:

What it looked like in 2010, cant miss that carpet!

HAHA this is so wild man! It looks like it lived a rough life from 2010-2020 (including Banana Boat paint job). This was my first LC build while as a student, so I cheaped out on a few things, including the carpet. So glad to see you are breathing new life into this truck!

Definitely neglected a bit but really didnt cover many miles. When I got it the motor was locked right up, coworker ran it dry on oil when in AZ, trailered it back to NY when he moved home, from there it just sat next to a maintenance building at a golf course. Sad site but it luckily never saw salt in NY, so frame is still as clean as it was when you had it! Slowly will be cutting out all of the cancer and replacing it with fresh metal, LS swap is coming along nicely too!

Still crazy that we met up like this, doesnt happen often!
