Was this on the 4Runner?

It’s on the turquoise pickup. Studs are holding up on the crawler.
@Mauser can you elaborate? I hate that they don’t think when they take them off more than put them on

I have been working on my other Toyota lately. 140k mile Prius HV battery did not like sitting for six weeks over the holidays. The 80 has been put on DD duty in the interim.

I have been working on swapping a 2uz engine into my 80 series and I have a original OEM radiator I want to use but I would like to have a radiator shop clean it and give it a good bill of health. Is there such a shop in Albuquerque or Santa Fe that reconditions radiators

I’m still baffled who does radiators.
@vegasfj40 did these guys work out?

So much for the bearings…

I will admit though, I have used the chisel method to remove and replace spindle nuts a few times. Sometimes you gotta do what you gotta do.

This is the sort of stuff that scares the crap out of me with hybrids. Too much black magic (that is how mechanical engineers refer to anything electrical).

Who needs a socket? Hammer and chisel work just fine!
Funny you mention that. I just used a hammer and chisel to loosen up the floor jack after I must have He-Manned it too tight and couldn't release the pressure to let the 4Runner down after an oil change.

If David the ME can do this, so can you Marc. Or, do what Evan did and trade in his hybrid for another hybrid at Toyota.

I'm with Marc. Looking at that setup, it's magic.

I took the easy way out, trading in for another hybrid. But I am convinced of the Toyota hybrid technology. We have two hybrids now - 2021 RAV4 and 2009 Camry. The first one was a 2006 hybrid Highlander and it ran almost 250,000 miles before the hybrid battery died. But it was one of the most trouble free cars I have ever owned. Same with the other two - they just run and run with routine maintenance. No issues.

I have actually been quite impressed with how maintainable the Prius is. There's no computer tomfoolery at all required on the HV battery to take it apart and replace/repair cells. There are even kits to swap in entirely new NiMH cells, or even to switch to Lithium cells. Electrically, it's extremely easy to work on, and there's a good (if difficult to navigate) knowledge base on PriusChat. It looks complicated with all the wires everywhere, but its basically as simple as disconnecting all the cells from one another, and connecting a battery charger to the +/- terminals of each cell.

For my battery specifically, one cell triggered the code, but the cells overall seem to be in questionable shape. I think this battery may have been rebuilt before. Not sure yet if I'll replace just the worst offenders, or replace all with new aftermarket. I've been preoccupied with other endeavors so this has been seeing only limited attention.

Some people are smarter than others, regardless of their chosen profession. Some people are just more motivated to do hard things.

A few weeks ago I traded a Jeep for a small ford 4x4 utility tractor. Was told it was in good order but was hearing some clicking in the front end that then locked up and almost broke my wrist as pulled hard right.

Pulled the front knuckle apart on it today to figure out what was going on bone dry. No way the seller didn’t know about this.

Pulled the front axle out and put it back together with some Toyota sealer and new fluid. It is now 2x4 until I can find the parts to rebuilt the front end.

That's ugly. No way the PO didn't know.

I finally got around to turning up the fuel pump on the unimog and I have to say that this is a substantial mod. I wish I would have done this on day one but to be safe I had to install a pyrometer and get baseline exhaust temperatures. Increased the horsepower by 50 to 60% and makes it a totally different rig to drive.
