People don’t seem to think Tundras get used like trucks. The look on the dealers face when he saw the sheet metal screws I used to hold the tailgate cap on was priceless. I leased mine from them used (it’s a 19), and they were supposed to fix all the little stuff, but balked when the parts counter said it was $350 for a new cap. I told em not to worry, I’d just screw it on. I guess they thought I was kidding?

Death Valley a few months ago. Nice comfortable desert ride but no flex like my 60😂pleasantly surprised at the capabilities in low 4…

^^^ Like the steelies & stripped badges.

—didn’t know you could pull the 5.7 fender badges w/o it leaving holes.

Thanks man.
Yeah, none of the Tundra’s badges have holes. Just a heat gun and a little patience. Mine is actually a Platinum so it didn’t have 5.7 badge. Just the Platinum badge on the door I removed.

Just bought this Wednesday, and haven't even gotten to really look at it in the daylight yet. Keep getting home from work at dark. Gave the ex wife my Wrangler JKU in the divorce last year and I finally saved up enough for it's replacement. Just going to build it out to be a weekend exploration, camping and errand vehicle.

The new truck looks fantastic. Are you running spacers behind the steel wheels? I run 35x12.50 18s on mine, and there is a lot of rub. Planning to go to 285/75s next. What’s the rub situation like?

Thank you… Yeah I’m running 1.25” Bora spacers. First time I’ve done spacers and I haven’t had any issues at all. Bora makes a real quality product. The 285s with the spacers sit just right. I removed the front flap, did the bumper spacer mod, and replaced the factor flaps with some I bought on Amazon.

Thanks for the reply. I was hoping to avoid spacers and be able to use my factory 18s. I have a set, and they are fine, but I tow and do long distances so I guess I’ll stick with the aftermarket wheels I have (Fuel). I’ll probably get a bit less rub with 285s than 35x12.50s.

I felt the same way, but these haven’t let me down a bit and I tow plenty. Most recently, I towed a loaded 16’ enclosed trailer from Mississippi to South Florida. I have rotated tires three times since installing, checked torque, and they haven’t budged. I think as long as you keep them to 1.25” or less they aren’t as bad as people make them out to be.

Well, I have had a spacer fail on my previous Tundra, resulting in a 35” Mickey Thompson doing 75 down the oncoming lane of highway, and a 4 day hotel bill while waiting for parts to repair damage, as well as almost losing a dual off my 3500 with 4,000 lbs in the bed. I saw it wobbling in my mirror and managed to stop with 2 of 8 studs left intact. Spacers are fine, right up until they aren’t.

Do you have an Amazon link to those mudflaps? They look great!

I now understand your reservations! I may accelerate getting some Methods with the offset I want to replace the steelies after reading about your experience.

Yours are good quality spacers, but they are just an added point of failure. I have a set for this Tundra and ran them for a short while until I found wheels as my tires were to big to go without. I might look at 285/70R18s as I really want to run without rubbing, and my wheels have a bit more offset than I’d like. A true 34x10.50 would be ideal, but anything less than 11” wide ends up being 32” or maybe just barely 33” tall, and I want to be 34-35”.
