Started toolbox repair. Still needs a little trimming so stopped for the night.

Fabbed up some brackets for tank straps.

Drivers rocker repaired.

Welded in tool box, fuel tank mounts and painted. Still trying to decide which way to go with this truck. I have a good 2f motor out of a 83 60. Do i put that in and run it like it is or 2” lift, bigger tires, disc brakes?

Get it running and see how it drives. Some just drive so nicely you don't want to change them. Then, if you find it a bit cantankerous, give her the upgrades? Depends on what you want to do with it.

I know you're concentrating on sheet metal work right now but if you were planning on replacing the door hinge bushings now might not be a bad time to do it, before the roof gets put on.

Pulled tranny and transfer off original motor. Did a bit of cleaning, but its like concrete on the case. Will try pressure washer next. Removed clutch, flywheel and bell housing for use on the 2f. Fly wheel looks a bit rough. Nice nest in clutch.

Yeah this truck was a smoke machine when I had it running, blue smoke out of the exhaust and white smoke from that smoldering nest lol.

Flywheel turned and welded up the air rail fittings.

Found some 4runner 17” steelies with good tread for $200. Couldnt pass that up don't even know if I will use them on this truck. Dropped oil pan, replaced rear main seal and installing new pan gasket. Pretty s***ty job without engine stand!

Also took a peak inside motor. Looks good still has crosshatching.

Finished oil pan install. Got the brownberry out and replaced pilot bearing. Installed bell housing, flywheel and new clutch.

Swapped over accessories from f motor and installed. Waiting for oil filter housing gasket then get this fired up.

Do I pull these two head bolts to install original air cleaner assembly? I started motor today runs good. I do not have coolant in it yet. Looks like others have done it with no issues. The only other option would be to rig up something aftermarket.

Yes on pulling the two head bolts. But I was warned that there is always a risk of ruining the integrity of the head gasket whenever this is done. I took the risk and it turned out okay.
