@OGBeno where did you dig them up?

Tonight, I grabbed the wiring harness and laid it out to just see where it roughly wants to lie. I have no idea if this is even close to correct, but a few things lined up. Will do my homework, and fix the layout as I go.

Do you happen to know what year this specific front liner came out of? I’m looking for one like this with less cutouts. My liner was out of a 2020 body so it had more holes for the cup holder I think.

We also laid out the floor mats I had. They are HZJ79 mats with a different set of cutouts for the shifters. I think I can probably mask it. The brown VDJ79 double cab mat does line up perfectly. I don’t know how hard I want to push to try to find a gray VDJ9 mat for three exposed inches of vinyl edge that is going to be under the edge of the seat anyway.

@sr5pickup l will check for you.

I got back from a few days away and a part of the puzzle looks like it has come together. The instrument panel harness arrived from Australia. I’ll try to hook it up and check fitment tomorrow.

I only got out to the barn for a minute but YES the subtank switch plugs in and the dash harness plugs into the main cowl harness.

Do you have a picture of the sub tank harness connection ( the rear of truck that comes up the right frame rail)

@fl4031003 here it is. It links up to the transmission harness, I think.

I picked up a 79 series locker ECU. It looks like it will fit into the main cowl harness, which is a 2001. It clicks right into place. It looks like it would sit nicely in the passenger foot well. If this works, hooking up the lockers should be as simple as looking up the pin outs, and getting the right six pin plastic connectors for each side. Will explore.

You're missing some of the plastic guides that route the harness across the cowl just below the windshield. There are also plastic mounts at each of the footwells that capture the connectors for the doors, middle harness and main cowl harness together. This layout is important to clear the dash support bar, and it's a pain to move them around afterwards, so best to plan your layouts now.

I haven't read your whole thread, but the glow timer will mount onto the support bar as well. I'll see if i can find some pics of the OEM layouts.

@BiffS are they available separately or were they part of the cowl harness thst broke off/got lost over the years?

Hello,

That ECU also provides a basic form of throttle control, with fuel-injected engines, when four wheel drive is engaged. It keeps the engine rpms stable while you wheel.

If I remember correctly, your other project involves a 1HD-FTE engine. You should use this ECU with it as well.

Juan,

I bought one at a time to make sure it works…but yes, I plan on getting another for the FTE double cab if this one works!

They are part of the harness for the ones that are in the upper windshield corner. The ones at the foot wells are separate.

I built an (almost new) tachometer/subtank cluster from parts. I thought that it might be more useful to start a thread devoted entirely to that cluster.

The fuel filter and level switch arrived. All ready to bolt up.

@davegonz stopped by and he helped me get the thermal insulation glued in the single cab.

This was definitely a two person job.
