Well that took longer than I thought! Now on to decking. (This oughta be fun)

@Michael B surely the first 4 feet… after that piece o’ cake

@knuckle47 just time consuming. It took two days and two evenings. When it should have taken a day.

I told my wife the same thing, at 69 I seem to take 1/3 more time or better to finish some things…except dinner. I can still wolf it down in a few minutes

I’m about 75% done with the decking. I have left the edges until I get my posts installed for what will suffice as a rail on the front edge of the mezzanine.

I worked under the keen eyed supervision of Bob. He hung around the mezzanine most of the day.

It was a busy and productive day in the shop. I finished plumbing the air system, framed the wall next to the stairs and installed the sheet metal on the front wall of the mezzanine.

I spent the afternoon covering the wall beside the stairs until I ran out of materials. Then I installed some more trim. I’m not sure if I will trim around the walk through door yet.

@Michael B This is turning our wonderfully. The mezzanine is going to be an office type use? Will you have a view to the area below or is this a short wall? I love it!

Thank you sir! The mezzanine will be strictly storage.

No work in the shop today. But I did retrieve some more wood. Hopefully it will be enough.

There is a large old pole barn near my house that was destroyed by a tornado in November of 2020. A friend of mine owns it and has given me permission to salvage the remnants.

How nice is that, I’d love to use that on the first 4 feet from floor but its popularity makes it ridiculous to buy much of it.

It has been a blessing, that’s for certain. That is also where all of the sheet metal came from.

Permission is great. I have a friend in Vermont who BUYS Timbers from old barns and makes furniture from it..it ain’t cheap..

I finished the sheet metal in the mezzanine today. All shop walls are officially covered! I had just enough red metal to finish the job. It was close. The pile of metal in the floor is what remains the supply of red metal I had.

looking great, always getting better and better. Take some time to sit and have a hot chocolate and enjoy the fruits of your labor this week when the cold gets down. Hope you have a good Christmas. Thanks for sharing the dream shop build, its neat to see it come together.

Thank you sir! It's not time to sit back just yet. We have our family dinner Friday evening so I will spend the day cooking. My mom will be in town for a few days, so I won't be working much while she is here.
