My experience with running too fast in the desert is exactly what Don said: you need about 55% rear weight on a truck. Sure, a 1000hp trophy truck would be better with 50-50, but on those, they have the power to power out of situations. An F engine can’t do that.

On a low horsepower desert truck, you need more rear weight such that the 45 doesn’t nose dive when it falls into a bomb crater. This will keep the truck in one piece, and not find the front axle bent after the first 100 miles.

Is the varying weight of the fuel cell (tank) accounted for?
Yes its a 22 gallon tank. Thing is I'm basically taking my Best guess since this has never been done before LOL it's all going to come down to our first shake down run at King of the Hammers next February

Makes total sense. Thanks

I'm thinking something like this. Add some tubes and straps. Fine tuning over the next few weeks

With the new spare tire configuration, have you thought about moving the fuel cell back and between the tires? More weight aft, easier fill location and blocking to help stabilize the spares.

The Sky's Off road design springs I am using were and pair off the 4619 that @RustyNailJustin Justin runs. I am not really sure of the total spring load they can handle they are really soft and my concern is to much weight we might lose the what little travel we have now. I want to Thank everyone for all the advice and suggestions. I'm glad your all enjoying this crazy build.

@orangefj45 Valley Hybrids and Cruiser Brothers were a huge help to Jen and I when we stayed over in Placerville prior to the Rubithon a couple of years ago. As busy as they are when we stopped into the shop they stopped what they were doing and helped us out. They do amazing work, that axel is a work of art!

Building a FJ45 race truck brings out the Best in people. Meet Andy my friend Josh's GF. I couldn't get as far as i have without kids like these to help with the build. Were goiing to run two spares in the back corners of the bed and move the fuel cell back 3 inches. I started rebuilding the rear axle and mocking up ideas for the rear shock mounts to gain as much shock travel as possible.

Finished the Throphy truck spare tire carrier. Josh and Andy knocked it out. Looks Great and with the added weight on the rear it will help with the hoops. Tomorrow another trip to PRP then start rebuilding the rear axle

I spent the last 5 days living in my buddies shop in Lake Arrowhead. He nailed the cage and I was able to finish up a lot of small things, Brakes are done, window netting, installed the new Joes Racing quick release steering wheel, We have tons of head room and I will be replacing the clutch and brake pedel with some I have already cut down to get me a little more leg room. I ordered a set of longer rear weld on lower shock mounts from Metal tech in a perfect world we should be able to fit a 22 inch shock in the rear more on that later.
