This is more to keep all my things in one spot.

1974 FJ55, F155, H41, split case, 3" Old Man Emu lift, FJ40 disc front axle, and rear disc conversion.

Plans: they were to go with a 4bt, NV4500 and keep the split case. That may change, right now I'm just trying to learn about the Beast and know what I'm up against.

Drove him around 550 miles from TN to LA. Had two problems, 1, the fuel tank wouldn't take more than 13 gallons and two the negative terminal on the battery had came loose. So, not too bad.

The Start

Dropped the tank, found that there was a decent sized dent and fuel was coming from a spot in the seam. Taking out the tank the filler hose split. Took the tank to a radiator shop who said they could fix it. Ordered a 2" hose and found out the hard way the inlets are bigger than 2". I've since ordered a 90° aluminum elbow and am going to pick up some soft-wall 2" and try again.

Found out the alternator wasn't charging because the belt was too big. Went and purchased one .5" smaller but haven't been able to ensure it was charging. Was a definite pain to get on though.

While waiting for the tank I decided to clean the underbody up a little where the tank goes and pressure washed it. Noticing that some of the blue came off I went on a bender and started getting some more off.

This however lead me to finding some bondo with some nasty surprises. Still havent dived on the passenger side yet.

Got the tank back, not super impressed with how it looks but would love to get a much bigger one in the future. They did get the dent mostly out, but in doing so it created a bulge that made it super fun to get back in place.

@PabloCruise has a workaround for the filler hose. It bailed me out but I don’t remember the details.

You’re a better man than me. I bought 3 belts and couldn’t get the next size down from the one that was on there installed.

Thanks for starting a thread. Looking forward to following along.

Oh it was a pain! I fought for well over an hour before managing to get it to go on.

This is your old Pig, yes?

So, with my luck like it normally is, my elbow that I ordered was lost/stolen. So I cut the original filler neck and installed a 2" exhaust coupler with a small piece of 2" filler hose.

With the capabilities to put fuel back in I decided to go ahead and tackle a pesty exhaust leak. I pressured the exhaust and found it was leaking from the manifold and donut.

Not quite, now waiting on another gasket to come in. Should be in tomorrow, fingers crossed!
I’ll need a donut when mine goes back together…please share the PN or source. (Probably super common but I haven’t looked yet)

046-01A is the pn for up to 74
046-01B is the pn for the 2f engines

I actually ordered an old 300 Ford engine one that will fit inside the beveled part of the exhaust flange. The one that was in it before was brand new and still leaking. Though I did clean up the flange being it corroded pretty badly.
