93-94 is the bosch-type flapper door. It has side-by-cats and upstream-only O2 sensors.
95-97 is a heated wire meter with two inline cats and upstream and downstream O2 sensors.
Horsepower and torque outputs are identical in both variants.
95-97 also has airbags.
Yeah, I might be an oddball but for off-road use I prefer the 80s without airbags. Personally I like the 93-94 models.

Less to worry about. No telling how long those old inflators will stay stable. When you think about it, even "new" replacement bags are going to be old stock.

If I was going to get a vehicle with a 3FE, I'd want it to be a 60-series, not an oddball 90-92 FJ80. You don't even get full float rear axles with the 90-92 FJ80.

You like the odd-ball 88-89 FJ62 better than the odd-ball 91-92 FJ80? Cool. A bridge engine in two bridge vehicles.

It kinda depends on what your end game is. For example the only 80 I currently own is an early 91 80 series. It is a poverty pack though which is what I wanted. I already swapped in later locked axles from a 95 80 and I plan to eventually swap in a 2uz.

If your final product involves swapping converting parts of it a 91-92 could be what you want since I would think you could find one a little cheaper than the 93-97 versions.

My advice would be to buy what ever version of an 80 series you can find and afford that is as close to your desired version and build it from there. Unless you happen into a killer deal on one that is worth the time and investment to make it what you want. So many variables to consider.

SOLD SOLD SOLD

I bought this cool fairlead because I thought it looked cool and was made by a forum member. I mean I still think it is pretty cool but I am not going to use it on anything, so it is for sale. I paid 132.00 to get it to my door. I am asking 120.00 and I will bring it to the next club meeting. New never mounted.

Does anyone have a spare roller fairlead they can part with? During the last abandoned vehicle rescue operation, the lower (horizontal) roller got tweaked. I haven't dug into it yet and it could be the entire bracket that's tweaked but I wanted to ask around just in case I need something!!

I'll look, but I think I managed to get rid of mine.

Not mine but it is in Tiejaras. Someone should build one of these.

I agree… there’s a guy in Durango/Farmington area building them. Not like yours tho

Yeah, I have been to that guys shop before and saw one build in progress. I haven’t seen a finished product of his though but I sure he has some out there.

I wish I had the garage space and height to get one of these inside to build. If I did I would could building another.

$800 is not a bad starting point for some who wants to give it a try.
