It's 1/2 inch Birch or Pine if I remember correctly. You are correct it's just butt joints but it has wood glue screws, and staples holding it all together.Tell me more about your drawers! Is that 1/2"? What variety wood? How did you attach everything? Looks like just screwed butt joints?

The fridge slide is held on with this style nutsert (I can't remember the exact size I used but these are similar)

I have no idea, I just matched whatever I got with the needed hardware.Do you remember what the thread pitch was on these? 1.0? It's not listed anywhere.
