OK folks here we go! Thanks to some help from some fellow mud members we found a 3 FE and transmission for my 62. David and I drove up Tuesday and picked it up in N.C. It's fairly low mileage for a 3fe so lets hope for the best. "Clifford" the big red truck as my kids call it is about to get another chance at life. The new motor will get some TLC and new seals and gaskets before it goes in.

After we get the engine in I have a set of 2" springs going on and will probably build a front bumper for it.

It’s about to be “out with the old” time!

Got some parts on the way from CruiserParts.net. Finally found the exhaust parts I needed. Mine were completely rusted out at the bungs for the O2 sensors. Also ordered an overhaul kit it has more stuff than I need but when I started adding g it all up the kit was a lot cheaper than buying it all individually. Definitely going to be doing the valve cover, oil pan, side cover, front crank seal, and rear main. I’ll also need the exhaust manifold stuff because the old motor has a header on it that will be transplanted to the new motor. I’m also going to replace the O2 sensors I’m also probably going to go ahead and replace the water pump before we drop the new engine in after seeing how big a pain in the ass it was to do David’s at GSMTR last year.

Made some good progress with getting it pressure washed to get all the stuff off of it. Also got it moved to where we can work on it and got a good bit of stuff pulled off. Bought the Costco pack of zip lock bags so we can keep everything together and mark the bags so we know what bolts go where.

Hoping to get it done before the Relic Run.

Also making sure to strip everything off this motor. The one I bought has all the bolt on’s so we’ll have some good spare parts.

Making some progress. Oil pan cleaned up and installed with the Toyota one piece gasket and got the engine flipped back over. Removed the old water pump so we can go ahead and install a new one and pulled off the air pump that I won’t be needing. Also got the 62 up on the lift and got everything disconnected so we can pull the engine.

Got the valve cover off and clean. Also got all the crap cleaned off so the new gasket will seal properly. Removed some more of the stuff I don’t need and got some stuff out of the way so we can do the new side cover gasket. The PO had put the oil pan on without a gasket. Just lots of silicone. Luckily there wasn’t that much on the valve cover. Heater pipe has a hole, luckily I have a spare

Got the truck up on the lift and got everything disconnected underneath. We got the cherry picker ready to go. So... Now we just need to get a couple hours freed up and we can get the motor pulled. Then we have to get some more seals done and the motor mated up to the tranny ( can we still say tranny?) and transfer bolted up and we can stab it in there. Got some other small stuff done to.

Finally getting back to working on the 62. Paint inspired by Marshall. Old motor out, new motor almost ready to go in with all new seals, gaskets ,hoses, water pump, and belts.
