I woke up Monday morning thinking I’d finish the pine boards in the Bathhouse but then decided to start the insulation in the Pumphouse. The materials in there were starting to pile up and it was time to start.

I did some more wiring and got the wall heater installed.

Got the 3/4” foamular foam board Liquid Nailed to the concrete and called it a day. Was going to start on laying the flooring but decided to run to K-Falls to get a 16’ utility gate, posts and concrete for the driveway entrance at Cloudcap.
Went to Coastal Farm and Ranch and picked up the gate and posts and ran to Home Depot. While going through parking lot I saw they had the same gate but for $136 not $199. I decided to also get 6x6 PT posts from Home Depot as the round pine posts were not 6”. Home Depot was out of Quick Set concrete except for 5 bags, 4 were damaged. The guy gave me 1/2 off. Got the gate and posts and went back to Coastal and returned their gate and posts. Fueled up and headed back.

It wasn’t on my list to put up a gate but didn’t like the idea having a road on my property without one. Got up early and busted it out to try to get home later that day.

Next was the task of cleaning up. My neighbor Justin was working on a new shop and asked if he wanted my 12’ Lifetime Gate. He was appreciative. I had one more long roll of drier fabric for the road. I was about to load up and thought about leaving it. I really can’t stand stuff laying around. I asked Justin if he wanted that roll and he said he’d love it. So took and dropped it over the fence. Watered all the plants and trees I transplanted. Turned off all the power. Drained and blew all the waterlines out with air. Drained the water heater. Poured RV coolant down the drains and in the toilet. Time to head home.

Bought this decorative light and thought about installing inside the Bathhouse but decided to go with the 3” can lights on the ceiling. This light will go outside on the front porch.

My buddy Travis and I are a lot alike but in job site organization he’s just a disaster. Tools and materials everywhere but we both work ourselves to death…

Full moon arising, just an awesome late summer evening.

Planted the trees I brought. The bright colored trees are Chief Joseph Pines. They are a specialty tree where the needles change color in fall and winter.

The other unique tree I brought was the Western Larch, AKA Tamarack needles turn Golden in fall
and then drop til next spring.

Another friend and I with ties to Michigan were just discussing tamaracks the other day. They're pretty common across Michigan - both peninsulas.

Apparently they'd grow down here into Pennsylvania, but they prefer a bog - like Michigan's peat bogs. The other thing is that they don't tolerate shade.

[edit] I see that there is both the western larch (larix occidentalis) and eastern larch (larix laricina) - both of which are also known as tamaracks.

The ones I'm familiar with from Michigan are also called American larch, eastern larch, black larch, red larch, Alaska larch, or hackmatack.

They say the western larch grows almost exclusively in the drainage of the Columbia River and although it (like the eastern version) does not tolerate shade, it only grows on well-drained soils, unable to thrive on waterlogged ground.

Last weekend I went up to dig some Western Larch, AKA- Tamarack and some Englemann Spruce in the Oregon Cascades for planting this weekend at the Crater Lake property.

That doesn’t mean it’s dry, I’ve worked on many long dead trees that are wet.
Obviously there’s moisture in wood. This region is extremely dry with very low humidity. Every tree that I’ve taken down that’s dead is bone dry. Dry enough to burn even if the outside is damp from rain. When camping in the snow we just find a dead standing tree and have plenty of firewood.

Walter plows the road from highway to his place. He’s retired and loves winter. He doesn’t hesitate to plow for us if we need him to.
I don’t have any corner lots. The road I built crosses all 4 of the lots to connect to the 2 roads in the community.

Changed the oil last weekend in my 60. Just shy of 19,000 miles on the Speedhut gauges. While changing the oil I decided to remove the side oil pan plug and see what thread size it is.

Went to Napa and confirmed it’s a M22x1.5 which is awesome because that’s the size threaded oil pan heater I found.

-8.1F this morning at the Crater Lake Property. This is why I want to be equipped for cold weather taking Project Snowball❄️ to the property. Now that I’ve got power I can keep the block warm with the new block heater and oil warm with the oil pan heater.
After changing the oil I decided to install the boost fooler on the HX-30 super and see just how much boost this puts out. I’ve been maxed out at 22psi. It spools super quick but at 22 psi the wastegate opens. Have been very happy with it but it’s time to turn it up.

Put a drop of blue locktite on the Allen screw as I didn’t want it to come out. I then took it for a drive home. Started with the screw about 1/2 way screwed in. Noticed an immediate difference. Up to 35psi.

38psi of boost. Not only does this turbo spool much quicker than the stock HX-30 but it produces some impressive boost! It climbs the grade home very nicely.
The oil pan heater is expected to arrive Monday. Hoping to make a trip in early December.

That 60 should really scoot with that! What's your cruising, level highway at 65 MPH boost at with that turbo?
