Recent found what I hope to be a great builder FJ40. It's a 1975 that was put into a ditch in 1986 and stored under a car port ever since. I don't know much about it yet but will post updates as i dig in and get to know more. It has a small block swap at some point but otherwise looks pretty stock. I'm shocked to see the rear support with no rust holes and hope that continues.

Congrats on your purchase and welcome. We're looking forward to see some pics. I'm running a 75, 40 with a sbc too.

Me too, but mine's morphing toward major patina.

Welcome to more MUD madness!

The tub still has the patina. At some point I hope it morphs into shiny.

See in your sig you have an NV4500 behind the smallblock. What a marvelous combination (in my experience)!

Since your last restoration turned out so well, we all have high expectations for this time around.

Here are some initial pictures of the new project. It has pleanty of surface rust but it's seems very solid so far. Looked up the engine numbers and it's a 1964-1966 283 with double hump fuely heads. Hope to see if she will run Friday. I am looking for a few parts here in Arkansas if anyone knows of any nearby. Thanks for the welcome.
Needs
Passenger door
Hard top top
Hard top left panel and glass
Windshield frame

Congrats on the purchase! Despite the damage, she looks pretty good.

That appears to be an FJ40--not an "FJ"
Not that bad tho'--lots of what appears to be only surface rust--
I have a top--good shape but a couple of molding holes in the front end(easily filled) you want it you are welcome to it--pickup in Alva Fla--can't ship--unless can arrange a mudship link--pics if you are interested--

A few more pictures of the project. So far it is everything I hoped as far as body rot goes. It has the cleanest tub I have seen on an unrepaired land cruiser. Ordered new wheels and tires for it and working to track down some steering parts and body panels so we can put it on a frame machine and pull the body as needed.

Nice! Looks like a great starting point. Which tire/wheel combination did you get?

I went with stock steel wheels with hub caps and 31x10.5 falken tires. Should have them in next week. Time to pull the trigger on OME suspension...any recommendations on best vendor?

I have sent an email your way with thr vehicle specifics and look forward to hearing back.

The OME suspension arrived today and I got the rear installed. Front will be a little bit as I am swaping the knuckles to disk and reseal everything. Seal kit from CCOT arrived today as well. Got the first peak at the ride height and new wheels and tires. So far so good.

Uhm this is an FJ40--not an FJ

Making some progress on the tear down. Removed the engine yesterday and got the tub off today. Plan to strip the frame of everything, clean and refinish. Not sure if I will have it blasted and powder coats or wire brush and POR15.
