I steam clean my internals before an oil change. Get a spray bottle with H20 and rev her up and spray water in through the turbo. A dozen squirts and then change your oil. I learned this from a BC ferries engineer, they drop a gallon in there intake before each oil change.

It's no different than water injection for cooler intake temps.

I can't say that it actually cleans anything. But the process isn't rocket science.
