You' re right mate.
Thank you for your contribution and enjoy your blue J40!

Followed through on my overdue spring hanger overhaul (both were cracked from decades of wheeling)on the 45 with some heavy duty replacements from RuffStuff. These will probably outlast the frame!

took the opportunity to dial in the shackle angle, shock angle and steering linkage all in one fell swoop.

Relay rod and main steering rod are now virtually back to stock relative positions, which is saying a lot for a truck with 5” of lift and traditional Saginaw power steering. (Edit: better pic)

And last, but definitely not least, the center point of the new spring hanger is lower than factory, which has the effect of offsetting the caster change from the lift.

I rushed through this swap over the last day and a half, so I didn’t mess with removing the caster shims. But I also have on deck a front axle replacement in the not-so-distant future ( I split open the weld on the knuckle ball at Cruise Moab 2008, and the camber has been a little bit off ever since). When I swap in the new housing, I will remove the caster shims all together and see what happens.😊

Nice work Mark. Looks like many more miles till it needs this again👍

So I have the old quarter panels on and am replacing the rear sill.

Can I get these rubber spacers because mine are torn up and also, what should the pacing be between the bumper and sill plate?

I have used a similar set up. I just a little worry about what a bolt is too short and thread is out just a little bit. I have used nylon lock nut.
I am interested in your (or anyone) opinion

I did quick search on here for a link but only came up with a couple of eBay ads.

I’m obviously not a master of self-promotion.😛

These double duty shackles in the for sale area :) it is an eBay in first post … but good info within the rest

You need better pics on there

This is a link click it:

you're fine, IMO, since you've used a nylock.
