I’ve given half a thought to reproducing those speaker brackets but haven’t been able to get my hands on them. They’d be great for installing cargo area speakers in a 60, using the 62 grill cover (or a @red66toy repro speaker cover) for a stock/OE look. I should probably go up to Poncha Springs and dig around, I bet Classic Cruisers has one.

We have plans on reproducing them for 62 and 60’s. Possibly for larger speaker sets as well.

Still finalizing the speaker grills at the moment. Baby steps. 😂

Just the boring stuff of fluid changes (F&R Diffs, Trans/TC, oil, brake, coolant), with a few filters (oil, fuel, air), spark plugs, valve adjustment and I might have checked the spark plug wires and dizzy air gap too. I managed to completely fail at replacing the gas cap seal, what I got won't fit the cap I have (new has a flange, old is just a flat piece of rubber)... is this OEM?

And my radiator cap is MUCH different, the installed version has a smaller neck/opening than the Toyota original cap. So, anyone know if this is an OEM radiator with repairs (replaced filler neck) or some aftermarket radiator?

- your gas cap topic is simple , yet safety related , TOYOTA never offered replacement seals or individual parts for any 60 , 61 or 62 globally ever ....

- also , the TEq LOGO is stamped of the outside face on both petrol and diesel Varieties the same in kind m if it's NOT stamped its NOT OEM Bottom line !

- lastly 4 / 1986 is the production date transition from a BIG cap to a SMALL cap ........

- you need a Small Cap apparently ?

- ALSO , if the ND / Genuine NipponDenso LOGO is NOT stamped on the ear , it's NOT made in JAPAN bottom line ......

- below is some relevant recourse images , save these to your hard drive of favorites in your cell phone

- this is why i made the TECH. BIG cap Banner size spec. color guide resource , to simply help and assist my fellow 60 series and all Vintage toyota folks before and after 4/86 get what they need the first RODEO , instead of suffering for another special order parts wait ........

I didn't know there was a change in cap sizes... just going on what's Supposed to be the right Toyota part for my 9/1982 production. I can absolutely see someone having replaced the original radiator with a pull from a later model, I mean I have an FJ62 drivers side passenger door and tailgate hatch. Measurements match up with the 16401-54750 small cap.

Regardless, returning the big cap, ordering the small cap and have the whole 77310-12100 fuel cap assembly already ordered on Oct 28.

What's the benefit of running a high zinc racing oil in a low revving engine like the 2F? I've thought about looking for a higher zinc oil over my regular Shell Rotella 10w-30.
Well, the biggest reason I use Valvoline VR1 in the Cruiser is that I know a lot of the guys at Valvoline and VR1 is one of the best out there for protection, I use it in both of my old cars. The other has a mildly built engine, still low revving by todays standards but both pushrod engines. Oils with high zinc content are better for older engines as they were designed for higher zinc oil, oil compounds and engines have changed a lot over the years but on old pushrod/flat tappet engines, the more protection, the better.

I'm sure someone here can give a much better technical explanation.

I'm back from an offroad trip in Romania with my FJ62.
Beautiful journey all off-road, the 62 went very well, I am very satisfied with the performance.
However, there are some changes to be made,
remove the spare wheel because it often hits the ground,
change bumpers with more resistant ones, the rear one also hits the ground
need larger diameter tires to raise the differentials,
then set up the interior to better organize and maybe even sleep.

I greased up my lockout hubs and got them working smoothly, and made some small adjustments to my tcase linkage, and tested out my 4wd. It works nice, shifts smooth, and goes back into 2wd without issue. The shifter doesn't feel as good as it did with the 4 speed, but it does work with the NV4500.
I wish I could say lockers will be next, but I still have suspension stuff to sort to gain axle clearance, and still have work to do to the interior, and some electrical junk left as well... Rome wasn't built in a day, I guess...
Oh yeah, I also got my horn working with the help of a .22 LR shell, and been honking it randomly like some kind of moron anytime I drive, lol.
It's coming along....
