Been a minute since I posted here.
Just getting back on my feet again and back in the shop. The rear locker was acting up again, I replaced the actuator a few years back so I was surprised to find this !!

Yep about two years old, I need to find out how the water/moisture is getting in !!

If anyone has input I'm all ears. also does anyone know where the vent runs to, it go's into the wire loom and heads towards the frame. I'm not sure where it terminates.

I believe it runs up into the rear driver side quarter panel behind the jack.

Someone may correct me, but I'm pretty sure that vent tube only extends a few inches into the wire loom and then ends. No backflow valve.
Unless you've extended it, a dip into Fordyce creek with a hot axle housing might be enough to suck water into the actuator.

I recalled the hose routing into the harness, but had never opened the harness to see how far up it went. The theory certainly makes sense. @Broski, do a little exploring in that rear harness branch and see how long that vent line is. Looks like a few of us may learn something.

Indeed the water was deep in fordyce Creek !!

With several crossing

The Locker was not working before the crossings but most likely sucked in water during the crossings. I have been informed that the vent runs over the top of the frame and terminates at the driver side rear tire. I well investigate today and report back ;)

I recall there is also a cap over the end with a small slit for an opening. I believe it would have to stay submerged for water to enter the vent tube

The o-ring looks like it wasn’t doing its job to me. The sealing surfaces where is sits are crusty. I think if it was sealed good the surface would still be clean. That’s the case with the o-ring sealed electronics I deal with anyway.

I was thinking the same thing! but after looking at it a few time it appears that theirs more corrosion to the inside of the O-ring. meaning the water was coming from the inside.
It's all cleaned up and working again. after testing I removed it and used some water pump sealer around the out side edge of the O-ring just to make sure.
I still think the water was coming in through the breather most likely when I was pressure washing.
You can see where the breather terminates right at the rear wheel well.

Literally sitting just like that. I can see water getting in there when using a pressure washer.
Next up extended the line up into the Jack area.

Will you be all fixed up by the tenth???

As the converstIon was still alive I didn’t know if your locker was working or not.

It's working
The lockers are bulletproof, it's the actuators that are finicky.
Worst case scenario they can be locked manually unlike other lockers ;)

I’m glad you will be ready. My rig is prepped and I spent time today going over my trailer. I’ll work the next three days and then pack my junk up Sunday and Monday and hit the road Tuesday. My plan is to be ahead of you so we can all meet up at a rest area and travel into to JV together.

Looks good! What color did you go with? Looks like a dune beige of sorts.
I was thinking the same thing, I had them send me some samples as I was trying to match the color of the armor this was the closest it's called Killer beej
I think it goes well with the 6M1 Dark Emerald Pearl
