Been wrenching on the truck adding gauges and getting things ready for a big upcoming trip. My girlfriend's mom made me a present in the meantime hahaha.

In preparation of the cleanest and most non-invasive Eaton e-locker install in history, I ditched the supplied rocker switch in favor of the factory Toyota switch. Crimped the plug on some nicely shielded cable and also went ahead and added the pin for the front locker so it'll already be wired to the switch.

These three wires will run to a factory accessory fuse box that I also sourced.

Built a new bike rack. Holds two bikes and our B.O.B. Trailer (for the dog), vertically and is mounted to an offset receiver on a swing-out.

Copied a friend's Velocirax. We're taking a road trip to the Northern California Coast/Redwoods next week. If it works out well and doesn't need any tweaking, I think I'll get it powder coated.

Turning an 80-series frame into a 70-series frame. 😎🤙

Why Toyota never built a coil cab pickup/ute is beyond me. Nissan did with the Patrol, oh well we can fix that problem. 🤗

Cheers

Just returned from a 2000 mile road trip to the Northern California Redwoods, and The Lost Coast/Shelter Cove. Pretty spectacular scenery.

Wanted to swing through Crater Lake on the way, but was denied due to snow/downed trees.

Did you happen to do trail #8? Its incredible, looks like endor and I kept waiting for Ewoks to pop out

I don't think so, we gave up on the Redwoods pretty quick as we couldn't take our dog out of the truck anywhere.

...and put a cup holder in where the ashtray used to be for my daughter.
Your daughter gave up smoking and started drinking?

She started getting a cough so it was time for a switch. She‘s quiet as a mouse with a cup holder in the back, should’ve done it long ago. Just gotta keep her drink topped up…

I put in a new led light into the kaymar bumper. For some reason, right side light was not working. I had ordered and received the new light from Australia. Kaymar gets their lights from this place in case anyone is wondering.... 200 Series - LED Autolamps - https://ledautolamps.com/combination-lamps/14-200-series.html

New light installed and working.

I decided to tackle another minor issue that was bothering me since I had gotten the Escape Gear covers. The HZJ77 ZX models come with this knob on the drivers seat that is for lumbar control. Escape Gear covers are not meant for seats with this knob as this feature seems to be exclusively ZX option for the JDM 77 and 73 series. I figured out how to remove the knob, made a small hole in the seat cover and installed the knob back on externally. The cover slides on much better also with that pesky knob in the way.

I also installed the new side power mirrors (after I swapped the 24V power motors into them due to only 12V variants available now). I will never do the task of swapping the motors out in these again, it was really difficult to get the mirror back on properly but good thing is they are working as intended.

I was going to install new headlights today but had to abort because I realized some of the screws and bolts in the headlight assembly are pretty rusty and corroded so I decided to order new screws/bolts for that before replacing the headlights.

Park Service worries more about your dog on a leash than they do about kids running, shrieking and attempting to stone the wildlife. They jam hundreds of people together in campgrounds devoid of space and privacy then make endless patrols to ensure no one has food that might attract bears.
Canadian parks are founded on the principle that most people who visit are nature lovers not teenage vandals.
