Well since the year 1990 the stock number has been 3013, according to Matt's brochure. So that should mean 3013 is also the stock number for Japanese. Also nice to know from the the brochure is the torque spec for cast iron engine is 18.2 to 21.7 lb-ft.

Good catch - I've only been aware of that new Denso part # 3013, last few years. Even then, plugs still said JAPAN on them, up until recently. I looked in my stash and you're right, I have an old box of 3013 and it says JAPAN....

I used to order by the W14EXR-U number so admittedly didn't pay too much attention.

Walked into my local dealership last week and asked for plugs. Guy says “no problem, we have boxes of them in the back.”

Maybe they stocked up prior to the apparent shortage? Or maybe the outlet talking about a “shortage” was just trying to say they’re out of stock at the moment.
