Def build your own soil. Anything for free is the way I go. I use the permaculture lasagna technique. Works great!!! Leaves, grass clippings, seaweed, manure, hay. etc. Of course don't forget to compost. Add compost or microbial rich soil layers in between every layer of the lasagna. 2 year compost is the best.

I have a park across the street so I don't need any grass, my whole back yard is a garden/ junk yard. Its a ying yang kinda dealio.

Some more loads a yard of sand this time for yard projects

I've always wanted to try the charcoal thing like that amazon black dirt. Terra preta I think they call it?

Never quite got around to doing it tho.

We put a garden down right next to the pond, that's some pretty nutrient rich water, and we have a fairly unlimited supply of it. Seems to do pretty well.

Which reminds me, time to give it a churn with the tiller, and do the butt clench as I wonder if this is the year I roll the tractor into the pond...

Every time I see your posts like this I admire your work… and it reminds me of the work I need to do. It seems to be a never ending battle to keep those bumps and sags away.

So I ordered these struts off Amazon at someone’s recommendation.

Qty (2) Fits Land Cruiser 1980 To 1989 Liftgate Supports, Tailgate, Hatch 010690 4231LW 4526 613393 72864 8194739 901612PM2008 RB8795724 SG329006

They came with the ball posts and were a direct fit with no issues. These don’t look like they will last anywhere near as long as the old Toyota struts that served me well for the 15 years I have had the truck, not sure how long they were on there before that, but these were cheep!

How are the drips with the rear gutter removed?

Well it hasn’t rained since I removed the rear gutter but judging by the design of the seal it definitely won’t drip at all.

The front doors also have the gutter removed and don’t drip, tested in monsoon rain.

I’m up to a secret project on the 60 I can’t say just yet but let me just say I have always thought the factory 2/3 roof rack was functional but incomplete.

Anyone ever replaced the plastic bushings in the factory rack feet?

Which bushings do you mean?

I have a rack foot here and it's one piece of pot metal?

I cut a rack down years ago to mount on a VW, but didn't go through with it.

Another knock against the 60s with high roofs. No rack.

Side note to your VW thing the 60 racks fit a 40 series without modification like they were meant to.

Ah, I only had a center foot, didn't notice those.

You can probably find some thin walled PVC or something to make those out of? Or black irrigation pipe maybe. It's fairly thin walled.

Worst case you bring some beer and I'll turn some down out of some sorta plastic pipe.

finished
