When you get a chance, can you get some exterior dimensions (rough length and diameter) of that little black rubber cap at the end of the column shifter linkage above the steering box? Trying to find a suitable replacement. :)

This morning's sunrise. A little smokey due to a local forest fire.

Did anyone ever get you this measurement? If not, I can check when I get out to my garage sometime this week.

Also, do you happen to have a pic of the piece you are talking about?

I got you! Bunch of pictures and measurements coming along. You’ll likely want to round these measurements a bit, as the rubber is old and a bit deformed, but you should generally be able to make it happen with these, I hope.

Feel free to send me one if you end up making any. 🤓

Yet another example of how procrastination pays! I didn't mention how my picture of the truck at sunrise came to be. I'd stalled there. Turns out it was an electric fuel pump wiring issue. I thought visible gas in a clear (also non-stock, sorry) filter meant fuel was moving, but it wasn't.

@whitey45, here ya go. Some "Stand by Me" movie trivia.
I had suspected the bog was created for the leech scene, and the bent tree still here today seems to bare this out. Time and my neighbor has cleared out most everything else.

I see now where the train track created on the site for the movie appears in the movie. It's location is evidenced by a vain of cobble still found in my neighbors yard. You see the track here in front of Keifer Sutherland's character.

The same track is seen here:

Old man Dilley, the farmer renting his property to the movie producers took a check to 'clean up' the site post production. Legend has it he chucked the train track into the river. Later when scrap prices rose, he retrieved what he could. I think this is the source of some rail I have found in the river bed in the present day.

Some hand crank bracket porn. Thanks to @Indygbd for letting it go.

I'd purchased a great reproduction from Oz, and will still use it elsewhere, but this will likely go on Miss Kitty. I'm a sucker for original paint. Some day I'll get the PTO sorted out.
